    Dashpad orgy

Over the years, I've accumulated too many dash pads. Time to make room...

    Front to back:

SOLD Lakewell "A" quality dash pad. New, unwrapped only for photo. $1650 delivered in So Cal (2 avail)

SOLD Lakewell "B" quality dash pad - has foam void above gas gauge area. Potentially fixable. $1400 delivered in So Cal

OE dashpad (new replacement) with the known compromises: larger margin around the speaker cover; octagonal hole pattern. These also have faint indications of where a center vent (later dash) would be. Maybe fixable, maybe not, but it's universal with these dashes that carry the Porsche brand. New. $1175 delivered in So Cal

SOLD 1976 one year original dash. Has 3 cracks on the 'flat.' Fill or cover... $650 delivered in So Cal

Fiberglass dash pad replacement. This will require your own mounting method, but at least it can be installed with the windshield in place (assuming the old one is out!) and will likely never crack from sun exposure. Paint it matte black and be done. Some info on installation alternatives here: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...ml#post1509804
fiberglass dash top is $250 delivered in So Cal.

Help me make space in my office!

Prefer local transaction because it allows inspection. This is important especially with the OE replacement pad because of the molding issues.

The OE dashes sold by most vendors including Stoddard have these molding issues. They are not this noticeable in person, but I lit the dashes to highlight the flaws. I'd say these molding marks can be made less visible, but you pays your money and you takes your chances. Aside from being less money, the grain on the OE replacement dashes is better than the grain on the Lakewells...

Don't these flaws pop out once the car has been left in the sun for awhile?

I wouldn't bet money on it. We had one of these on a shelf and it was resting on something that put a dent in it. The dent came out completely in 2 days, just sitting without heat. But these slight ridges - maybe .5mm - are in the material under the skin. I would use a spudger or nylon trim tool - maybe with some heat - to suppress them.

Since all these OE dashes are the same, it might pay to research what others have done... I would not feel comfortable selling these (I have 2) on the assumption they can be made perfect.
