The COA for my 67S lists "ski holder" under accessory equipment. Is this the correct item? The seller says there is no part number and the brand is karo(sp?).
Any input would be appreciated.

Dear Dennis,
as far as I am concerned everything should be right with the ski rack,
but and yip, targa version!
Brand "karo" is the correct german brand for roof racks.
btw:dolphin gray with blue interiour...gorgeous combination

Looks like a Targa ski rack. Only one piece has the gutter mounts and the other appears to have the screw-on plate that attaches to the inside edge of the Targa bar.

This is from a scan of a September 1965 911-912 Accessories brochure:
It's option number 9507 [901.801.015.20] Dach-Ski-Halter mit 8 Skihalteriemen für (2 Paar Skier) / Roof ski rack with 8 leather straps (for 2 pairs of skis). It does look very similar. There would't be any Targa accessories in a brochure from 1965 (1966 model year).

The rack is a factory Targa Ski Rack.
Around 1975 I was departing Snowbird Ski Resort in Utah after a day on the slopes. In the parking lot was a pristine black 911 with a ski rack on the top. I was pondering what idiot would actually use such a beautiful 911 for their ski/mountain car when Robert Redford of "Downhill Racer" fame and his skiing buddy walked to the car with skis in hand. That explained the whole thing. No idiot after all. Just a person who could.

Ahhhh the sixties... I envision myself one early Saturday morning wearing plaid shorts, black shoes with white socks smoking a cigarette heading to the hardware store to buy a bag of nails.
SWB cars are an acquired taste however once acquired theirs no turning back.
