Last check before the first wheelspin of 2017. Car had been sitting in the garage for some months during winter and some maintenance been conducted (alternator rebuilding). Engine has been heated to the operational temperature of 80 deg. C. than revved up to 6000 rpm. Checked tension of the fan/alternator belt; any leakage of gas/oil; functioning of the instruments; etc. Initial black smoke due to the long sitting quickly disappeared. Off we go!

First drive of 2017 today in the 73S. Ran great but did some fine tuning on the MFI idle. Also just had my distributor rebuilt at Parts Klassik. What a difference!

Ordered a set of 86-1394 Koni inserts a few weeks ago and put them in today. Straightforward job really. The car left the factory in October 1965 with Boge and the way the front was handling I assumed they were original. I wasn't far off from my assumption. What I found are October 1967 Koni inserts. This is good news because it made the swap even easier, slide out the old and slide in the new.

Getting the new motor ready for installing in my old 71T. It is a relatively stock 3.0 with Webers and SSIs and my signature muffler. It is replacing my old 3.2SS that finally gave up the ghost after decades of flogging.
