David - what do you mean by "Back in the day when having the correct chassis number for the build did not matter much."? I was not aware that there was a correct chassis number for RSR conversion!
Who's is the dealer for the blue Rgruppe?

What I meant, is in the 70's and early 80's there was not much importance placed on a car being matching numbers. More importance was placed on the car being close to factory spec for what was wanted as an end result. A 911 chassis was a 911 chassis, as long as the mods were contemporary development.
Everybody has their preferences, but I personally don't like backdates. I'd rather have a short hood with a 3.0 MFI with a 74+ RSr look than a longhand with a late 3.2.
Of course that is just my personal preference, whatever floats your boat.

I'm a little concerned about the bidding on the Tribute car. eBay makes me a little paranoid at times. Ok, a lot of the time.

That R trib is within my walking zone. I think I know who the seller is, tried to arrange an in-person look see this weekend but, he told me no. Im asking if he's going to allowing any inspections including a formal PPI. No answers yet. Going to take my lab for a walk this afternoon, see what I can see.For what it's worth, I've never seen the car out and about. I asked a couple of simple questions but, no answers. He might be freaked because I'm so close. Looked like a great opportunity to get into a running car with minimal "in".
From what I can see, its a garage resto with a lot of it being paint and undercoating over original undercoating and plating. If anyone is truly interested in pursuing, PM me. Would be happy to help with impressions, details.
