    Auction Description:

This original ‘F-Series' Porsche 911T was built in 1973 and supplied new to the United States in left-hand drive. Finished in Tangerine Orange (paint code #2323) with black leatherette, the car originally came with optional equipment such as Koni shock absorbers, a rear spoiler, and tinted glass all round. After a handful of owners in the US, it was decided by long-term owner Tom Wilkinson in Oregon to create something special and that is precisely what he did. Respected Porsche specialist Jeff Gamroth of Rothsport, Oregon was commissioned to build a free-revving, lightened and balanced 2.7-litre engine based on genuine 1974 7R crankcases. The build spec included 10thou overbored crankcases, reconditioned conrods, new phosphorus bronze valve guides, 36mm throttle bodies, an upgraded oil pump, and a fuel pump to RS-specification. This engine was then married to a 917 transmission with a Quaife LSD and Wevo short-shifter.

Bilstein HD dampers front and rear, ARB torsion bars and disc brakes all-round ensure this stunning 911 handles and stops as well as it goes. After being carefully reassembled with weight saving a priority, the car was placed on 911R Fuchs alloys wheels. Open the driver's door and you are greeted with a genuine RS steering wheel, a 10k tachometer and a sharp, functional interior. The glove box has a discreet cigar lighter attachment for modern MP3 players and sat-nav systems. The quality of the paint and doors shuts will impress the moment you lay eyes on this Tangerine wonder.

Imported to the UK in April 2013, the car has since been enjoyed by our vendor on European roads trips but is now being reluctantly offered for sale. Supplied with a UK V5c and a MOT until 12th September 2018, a car of this quality would cost a considerable sum of money to build, let alone the cost of the engine build, and hence this car offers an exceptional opportunity to purchase what some might consider the ultimate ‘sleeper' 911.

I am not familiar with this car, but at an advertised price of $49K, it may be worth a look for someone looking for a car with its RSR/IROC style. Listed on Craigslist (so buyers beware of scammers) in the San Diego area.

    Auction Description:

This 1971 Porsche 911T is a modified example that was acquired by the seller 23 years ago and has been driven 35k miles since. Sport Haus in Reno, Nevada rebuilt the 2.2-liter flat-six in 1997 using 911S pistons and cylinders, as well as Weber 40 IDA 3C carburetors. The car is fitted with a 5-speed manual transaxle, and suspension modifications include adjustable Koni shock absorbers, Weltmeister sway bars, and Sway-A-Way torsion bars. The Mahle wheels have been widened, and Brembo cross-drilled rotors have been fitted all around. The interior features a set of cloth Recaro seats, a roll bar, detachable Momo steering wheel, Schroth belts, and an Alpine head unit. A service was completed in April 2017 and included a valve adjustment and oil change. This modified 911T is now being offered with a set of 16″ Fuchs wheels, a stock deck lid, some records back to 1978, a Porsche CoA, and a clean Nevada title in the seller’s name.

The car was repainted its factory Tangerine (2323) in 1994 by Intrepid Motorcar CO. of Sparks, Navada. This example is not equipped with a sunroof, and exterior updates include Hella H4 headlights, 911R turn signals, Cibie rally lights, and a ducktail spoiler. The rear license plate panel is finished in a contrasting yellow, as are the front and rear grilles. The German cross decals are vinyl and can be removed, and a stock deck lid is included. The Mahle magnesium wheels have been widened by Weidman’s Wheels to 6.5″ up front and 7.0″ in the rear. Tires measure 205/55 and 225/50 respectively.

Suspension modifications include Weltmeister front and rear sway bars, Sway-A-Way torsion bars, adjustable Koni Shocks, a front strut brace, replacement bushings, and a front suspension pan. The brakes have been upgraded using cross-drilled Brembo rotors on all four corners, as well as stainless braided lines. A set of custom-painted 16″ Fuchs are also included and can be seen mounted above. They were also widened by Weidman’s to 7″ in the rear, and the seller notes that new tires should be fitted.

The cabin features a roll bar, Recaro seats with orange spectrum fabric, a detachable Momo steering wheel, a short shift kit, Schroth 3-point safety belts, Rennline pedals, and perforated floorboards on both sides. The odometer shows 750 miles and is said to have rolled over once. The 2.2-liter flat-six was rebuilt in 1997 by Sport Haus in Reno, Nevada with 911S pistons and cylinders, Weber 40 IDA 3C carburetors, a Jacobs Performance ignition, and a battery relocation kit. The compression ratio is said to be 9.8:1, and a valve adjustment was completed in April 2017 along with an oil change.

Several undercarriage photos are provided in the gallery, showing the suspension, exhaust, and drivetrain. The Porsche CoA confirms the original color as Tangerine (2323) and lists the factory options. A stock deck lid and some receipts dating back to 1978 will be included in the sale.

If I were in the market for a hot rod, I'd be on a plane to SF to check it out.
Scroll up to post #278 for the person who built this beast!
