This 1968 Porsche 911 is a one-year-only L model and has been owned by the seller for the past 10 years and 6,500 miles. Finished in metallic silver over a black leatherette interior, it is equipped with a factory Golde electric sunroof, 15″ Fuchs alloy wheels, fixed-back GT seats, a wood steering wheel, and more. Power is supplied by a Weber-carbureted 2.0-liter flat-six paired with a 901 5-speed gearbox, and service work performed within the past year included an oil change as well as the installation of a rebuilt alternator. The SWB 911 is now being offered in Knoxville with records dating back to the 1980s, a Porsche CoA, spares, and a clear Tennessee title in the seller’s name.
The 911S was unavailable for the US-market in 1968, and the 911L became the range-topping offering. This example left the factory finished in Blood Orange, though a color change was performed under previous ownership in 2006. Gold-lettered badging remains affixed to the trunk, and 3-bar rocker strips have been added to the sides. A set of uninstalled polished Deco rocker guards are included with the sale.
The L received the same suspension and vented brakes as offered on the S. Period-style Vredestein tires come mounted on a set of reconditioned authentic 5.5″x15″ Fuchs alloy wheels, and a matching spare resides in the front compartment.
A pair aftermarket fixed-back seats trimmed in a matching black leatherette with pepita centers have been added, though a set of factory seats accompany the sale. White-lettered gauges were also introduced for 1968, and this car comes equipped with a period Becker Europa radio and automatic antenna. A 4-spoke wood wheel and 917-style balsa shift knob have been added. North Hollywood Speedometer rebuilt the original tachometer. 30k miles are shown on the 5-digit odometer, which the seller believes has rolled over once based on service records from the early 1980s.
The 901/14 2.0-liter flat-six wears stamping #3280124, which corresponds to a 1968 production year, though it does not match the Porsche CoA. Induction is through a pair of Weber carburetors, as original, and a 5-speed 902/1 gearbox is responsible for transmitting power to the rear wheels. Service records dating back to the early 1980s are included with the sale.
Damage is present on the right front section of the floor pan, which the seller indicates probably happened many years ago, prior to his acquisition. Rust repair was performed in the passenger-side front wheel well five years ago, and a section of the rear seat bucket metal base has rusted through. Additional photos of the underside have been provided in the gallery. The included Porsche Certificate of Authenticity shows a production date of 10/26/1968 and lists the original options, drivetrain, and colors.

The 1970 911 S coupe offered here was ordered with U.S. equipment – one of just a fraction originally sent to the U.S. Originally ordered in the current color combination of Tangerine over a Black Leatherette interior, this 911 S is confirmed to retain its original matching-numbers engine. Additional optional equipment included comfort equipment, Pirelli tires, and an antenna with loudspeaker and noise suppression.
Incredibly, this car has had only three owners – passing from friend to friend before being acquired by the current owner while finishing his graduate degree. At the time of purchase, the 911 S had only 29,000 miles and the original tires had just been worn down. Forty-three years on, the 911 now wears vintage Michelin XWX tires, and its paint is original except for a repaint of the hood 20 years ago and a recent repaint of the deck lid, for which receipts are available.
This fine example of a highly sought-after model is supplied with its original spare tire and wheel, tool kit, and factory-issued Porsche Production Specification certificate.

This 1967 Porsche 911S Coupe was built on September 8, 1966 finished in Silver Metallic over black leatherette with pepita cloth inserts. The car was acquired by the seller as a partially-complete project out of Vancouver in 2005, and a refurbishment to stock specifications was completed 10 years later. Work included the installation of a replacement 2.0L flat-six and refreshing the Type 901 5-speed manual transmission, as well as bodywork, a repaint in the factory color, and new upholstery. Approximately 800 miles have since been added, and the vehicle was featured in a 2015 issue of Excellence Magazine. This SWB 911S is now being offered for sale with records, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
A repaint in the original shade of Silver Metallic (6206) was performed during the refurbishment, which was finished in 2015. The car is equipped with a pair of fog lights, and detailed photos in the gallery show the condition of the lenses and trim. 15” Fuchs wheels are wrapped in Michelin tires, and a spare, factory tool kit, and jack are included in the front trunk. A 6-digit California blue plate is mounted out back.
Black leatherette seats feature pepita cloth inserts, and the car retains its factory manual windows, 4-spoke steering wheel, and Blaupunkt AM/FM radio. Stock VDO gauges are pictured up close in the gallery, and over 24k miles are shown on the odometer, with true mileage unknown.
The 2.0L flat-six was reportedly sourced from a 1967 Porsche 911S and is mated to a 901 5-speed manual transmission. Recent maintenance included a valve adjustment and carburetor work, and compression results are said to land between 165-175 psi with 3-4% leakdown across all six cylinders. The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity confirms the factory colors and optional equipment.

Over a 3-year period, this incredibly wonderful example underwent a very detailed restoration process, which took it back to its “factory original” state. A well-recognised Dutch Porsche specialist firm carried out this restoration. The body-off, down to every last screw being E-coated has been finished in eye-catching “Hell Gelb (117). The car has been with the same owner for 33 years and as an active PCA member he has enjoyed the car in many touring events and has never missed a Monterey Historic event since 1985. The car took 3rd place in the Monterey Porsche Parade in 2014 and was also featured in the S-registry Esses magazine in 2016.
The car came to the present owner with 104k miles in 1985 from a good friend who was the second owner and drove most of the cars miles. The body was resprayed in 1984 in its correct canary yellow and the engine was also rebuilt at that time. Since 1985, the car was driven about 46k miles and it runs and drives wonderful. The 2.0l power plant develops 130hp and moves the lightweight Porsche with ease. The 5 speed transmission shifts tight and the car goes down the road very well. A joy to to drive.
This is a western car which lived only in California and since 2006 in Nevada. Very solid floors with no apparent corrosion problems. The body is nice and straight with very good panel and door fit tolerances. Both doors close with the typical Porsche “door ping”!
The car has never had a full restoration and aside from the outside paint, carpets and headliner, the car is very original and in excellent condition.
The correct Fuchs wheels have been refurbished by Al Reed and are wrapped in brand new Yokohama tires.
1968 marked the last year for the short wheel base cars for Porsche and the L (Luxury) has all the features of an S aside from the non EPA compliant S engine.
This is a very nicely documented and enthusiast owned 911 with just the right amount of patina. Numbers matching with Certificate of Authenticity and accompanied by factory owners- and service manuals, period Porsche brochures, jack and toolkit.

This 1971 Porsche 911S Targa is a European-market example that was acquired by the seller out of Georgia three years ago and subsequently refurbished to stock specifications. Work included installation of a rebuilt 2.2-liter 911S flat-six, rebuilding the 5-speed manual transmission, refreshing the suspension and braking systems, and performing a bare-metal repaint in the factory Metallic Blue. The car was reportedly driven daily for a year, and the seller has added approximately 2,000 kilometers (~1,200 miles) during his ownership. The most recent service was performed three months ago, and this 911S is now being offered for sale with records from the seller, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
A repaint in the factory shade of Metallic Blue (84) was completed by Sacio Enterprises of San Diego, California in 2015, and bodywork was also reportedly performed as necessary. Exterior trim includes gold rear badging, Euro-spec amber taillights, a pair of driving lamps, and chrome accents around the wheel wells. Factory 15” Fuchs wheels are wrapped in Michelin Premier tires date-coded from 2015. The seller notes some missing chrome trim around the windshield washer nozzles, as well as a crack in the windshield.
The cabin is trimmed in black leatherette with matching carpets and a stock 4-spoke steering wheel. European-market instrumentation is retained, and over 39k kilometers (~24k miles) are shown on the odometer, though total mileage is unknown.
The non-original, fuel-injected 2.2L flat-six (*6301140*) is from a period 911S. It was rebuilt by Wayne Baker of Personalized Autohaus and installed by Black Forest Automotive, both of San Diego, California. The 5-speed manual transmission has also been rebuilt, and new oil and fuel lines were installed. An oil change and inspection were carried out three months ago.
Suspension and brake refreshment included new bushings, calipers, and a master cylinder. Undercoating has been applied to the chassis. The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity confirms the factory colors and optional equipment.

This beautiful 911 S coupe is one of 1,430 produced for the 1973 model year. It left the factory finished in special-order Silver Metallic paint (8080) with black leather (66) sport seats, tinted windshield and side glass, and an electric sunroof. It was delivered by Bob Hagestad Porsche-Audi in Lakewood, Colorado, in July 1973 and thence to its first owner, Mr. Cliff Weiss of Golden, Colorado. This very desirable and carefully maintained 911 S coupe subsequently passed through the hands of several additional enthusiasts in Minnesota and New York state before acquisition by the consignor in 2015. Its history includes extensive mechanical and cosmetic refurbishment in 2002 by its fourth owner, noted Porsche technician Rick Moe of Mound, Minnesota. The interior, with its original leather-wrapped “bow-tie” steering wheel and Blaupunkt stereo radio, is in excellent condition and shows very little wear. The Fuchs “Windmill” light alloy wheels are likewise in fine condition and are shod with period-correct Michelin XWX high-performance tires.
This outstanding low-mileage 911 S is supplied with an original tool kit, jack, and spare wheel; owner’s manual and factory warranty booklet; a detailed history file; and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. It would make a fine addition to any collection of notable Porsche models and score well at club-level concours.
