FS: DOM Replacement Key Card 1970-1973 and Up

My reproduction DOM key cards are ready! Got these just the other day and they look very nice. Fun little project.

Porsche put one of these cards, attached to the two red valet keys, in each 911 and 914 glove box starting in 1970. If the keys became lost and you kept your card (in a safe place) you could call Porsche with the stamped HC number and receive a fresh set of pre-cut keys. Thanks to Eric (neunelfer) for getting me going on this one with his original thread here: http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...read.php?71696

Over Thanksgiving I found an original tag took measurements, photos etc. These are spot on, except for one thing... there is no stamped number on the HC tag line. I can stamp your number if you'd like. If you don't know it and you have your Invoice sheet or Kardex you can find it there. See the two examples below:

Price: $17 shipped with zip tie to attach the two red valet keys.

DOM valet key blanks (pn 914.531.903.11) are still available from Porsche for about 20 bucks so you can get them at your favorite parts supplier: Pelican, Stoddard, Zim's, etc.

Example of my reproduction key card stamped. This does not cost any extra or take more time so if you know your number let me know!

I will take one. I will PM you with the Key number.
as an aside i have an original one in my glove box with a key with a very small black head attached. The number on the card is 516 however that key does not work on any of the locks in my car, and the key number for the car is very different - starts with CO and has 3 numbers ... and keys cut to that code work on all my locks.

also the number stamped on the one I have is in Blue ink - see attached photo

do you know when the HC numbers went from plain numbers to ones with letters? My car is a 73 so i presume they ran out of number combinations fairly early on.
the reason i ask is i dont know if mine is C zero etc or CO for orange. I had always thought it was the latter but now I am not so sure.

If someone out there is the rightful owner of key 516 I will be happy to give this to them.

What is the small headed key for? Is the code on the ignition, or where?

How did you find out your key number if that one didn't match?

Is there any other way to find out what the code is? Nice work.
