    Best of the Best

I’m building out the new online Audette Collection store and the vision is starting to come into focus. Of course I feature our (I guess I can say “our” now that my wife is officially helping) restoration services there but it’s almost a formality as that business is pretty much word of mouth. And the LED headlights are there. But to me the most interesting part might end up being products.

My idea is to slowly catalog the best of the best products (and maybe services) for air cooled Porsches. A highly curated collection with no claim to completeness or theme, other than for air cooled Porsches. Some of the items are a product of knowledge, some are high quality, some are especially efficient, some are beautiful, and some are all of those things.

For example, today I added a mundane but useful item that came out of a conversation with Daniel Stern. In Europe Honda uses advanced high performance incandescent bulbs for turn signals and taillights. They produce 45% brighter brake lights. They also have EU mandated nickel bases to resist corrosion. They seem like a great alternative to LED bulbs for those who want brighter lights but a traditional look. So I assembled what is needed for an air cooled Porsche into a kit and offer it at the store. There’s very little profit margin in it, but that’s not the primary goal. In this case, the very best incandescent signal lights are identified.

So... I’m looking for recommendations and ideas. What would you include in this little Hall of Fame of air cooled Porsche products?

    Cheers,
    John

P.S. BTW, the store is at 911LEDs.com

Hi John, do you have any photos with a side by side comparison of the bulbs installed? So 45% brighter and same wattage?

As you know, I’ve spent the past 10 years concentrating on restorations, adding LED headlights to the mix about five years ago. Inspired by my new store and my friend Daniel Stern I’m at the beginning of building my knowledge on bulbs. No pictures yet - they’re on the to do list. Right now I’m trusting Daniel.

It shouldn’t take too long to flesh things out. I have bulbs out to customer-friends who have multiple Porsches and I’m sure they will provide me with some comparison shots.

    Cheers,
    John
