    1969 911 TR Race Car

I need some quick help from the group... only have about three hours to make a decision.

I am trying to trade for a 1969 Porsche 911TR. I can only provide the following details. The chassis number stamped into the body near the tank corresponds to a regular production 69 911T. The engine is a 901/20 and the gearbox a 901/01.

The tub of the car has a body sequence number way too late to be a production 69T. I have already checked two other cars out and verified this with Prorsche.

I believe the car to have been retubbed in the 70s using the running gear and bits and pieces of the original car.

Anyone have a feeling on how much this hurts the value of this car ?

If it had no issues the car would be worth something in the order of $125 to $135K. (The engine is worth $45-55K on its own.)

    I can be emailed at bnoon@symbolicmotors.com or called at 619 840 7811.

    Cheers,

    Bill

Sorry, I am completely useless on this topic but the TRs fascinate me. I am restoring my '72T in a TR style. Please post pics and more info when you have time. And, good luck!

Paul Frere's book Porsche 911 Story has the 901/20 engine listed as coming in a 906 racecar from 1965-68. It should have webers and twin ignition. 210hp @8000rpm.
The car sounds like a bitsa, not gonna be worth huge $$ unless there is some factory build history, or such.
Just one opinion, based on what you've told us here.

Wow! you guys rock! What a great group... Scary how fast and how much info some of you have in your data bases.

Thanks for all the private PM, photos, calls and emails.

Car is definately built up but from the real bits of an early Factory racer. With a donor / replacement tub circa 1973. No way to come to terms with the owner who over paid for the car.

I gave him a chance to buy my car outright for cash and he will decide later this evening what he wants to do.

As an asside, I have asked him to let me post pictures and info on his car for the group and he promissed to get back to me asap.

    Thanks again to all.

    Warm regards,

    Bill Noon
