You have no idea what you're talking about. Here are just some of my VP frames:

Two of the frames pictured are the frames I mentioned earlier as having been salvaged personally by me at the Hermosa Beach dealership while a third is from my 1986 targa with 15k original miles that was purchased new from VP. These black frames are the most recognized and most valuable of the VP frames. Yours are both earlier frames. The Manhattan Beach frame is from the VP location that preceded the Hermosa Beach location. Your other frame is, in my estimation, the second rarest of the known VP frame varieties - second only to the b/w frame with the single Porsche crest as seen in this photo:

Surprisingly, the rarer frames trade at a discount to the more common (but still hard to find) double crest b/w frames. My guess is that people just prefer the look of the double crest black frames as these routinely bring $200 in only fair condition and I've seen NOS ones sell for as much as $500.

As for plateframeking on ebay, your wholly incorrect about them. I've been dealing with them for many years. They make their living digging out these vintage frames wherever they may be and they've been doing it long before there would have been any money in reproducing these things.

If you're looking for a VP frame, the repops out there are easy to spot - they identify the dealership as being in Redondo Beach and, while VP did have an overflow lot in Redondo for a short while, they never advertised this location on their plate frames.

Right now there's yet another Vasek Polak Manhattan Beach frame on ebay (item 261525564117). Obviously a reproduction because the seller keeps using the same photo of the item (although he uses different seller names). Nevertheless, a nice finishing touch to a 356 or old 911. No harm in repops as long as they are labeled as such. Heck, half the classic cars in the US wouldn't exist if it weren't for reproduction parts.

I am not "saying" they're from any era. Just like I'm not "saying" they're authentic but rather stating a fact that is well-known by numerous Porsche owners and easily verifiable with the slightest research. Similar designs were also used for VP BMW and Volkswagen (and I have those frames too)

I don't have an exact date that VP began using this design but I can verify that the b/w frames were used for many, many years and were in use when the dealership closed it's doors. There used to be a guy on the forums who bought the excess frames when the dealership closed. I believe he finished selling them off many years ago. In addition, my first 911 was one of the last cars sold from the VP dealership and it came to me with it's original frame still on the car. This was almost 15 years ago.

    Travale . . .

    From the '70 PDL . . .

    Travale Porsche Audi
    907 North El Dorado
    Stockton, CA

Standard matt white lettering on med blue letter boxes, flash-chromed, no Makers' marks/ID, shown w/ std CA pass, etc, etc --- yeah-yeah, wrong year, whatever . . .

Overall, pretty nice condition little bit . . . w/ only traces of the screws that held it on whatever car/truck/trailer/vehicle that it came off of. Indifferent finishing is pretty typical --- blue looks brushed, maybe? --- then the white rolled on?. I'd almost think that this's been re-finished . . . but the back-side is just about spotless, so . . . wonder where this thing's been hiding/hanging all these years. One-year-only dealer, too

STOP the Presses Printing occupies the location today --- and it's not a big one, lemme tell ya . . . about the size of one of today's gas station/mini-marts. How many cars could a place that small 've sold in such a short time? . . .

    . . . and in Stockton ---- !?!
