    Auction Description:

First owned by His Royal Highness, Prince Sadruddin Aga Khan.

    • Desirable sunroof option
    • Fully matching numbers and colours
    • Delivered new to Switzerland
    • Outstandingly original
    • Restored to concours standard by 'Porsche Classic' accredited Porsche Geneva in 2017
    • Close to continuous ownership history

'Nothing that is desirable comes easily or cheaply and the Carrera RS is no exception, but without question it is one of the great cars of the 1970s; the personification of GT motoring and race breeding.' - Motor Sport magazine, February 1973.

Chassis number '0738' was supplied new to His Royal Highness, Prince Sadruddin Aga Khan and delivered via the Porsche agency, Garage Schiller in Geneva, Switzerland (correspondence on file). A copy of the original Porsche 'Wagenkarte' shows that the Carrera left the factory finished in Light Ivory with Pepita (Pumpkin) and black interior, and records that it was equipped with the Touring package (472) plus headrests, sports seats, and an electric sliding roof. It was the Prince's custom to change his Porsches every year before they had covered 5,000 kilometres, and in February 1974, '0738' was traded in at Garage Schiller and replaced with a new Carrera 2.7 MFI.

The Porsche's second owner is not known. The third was the owner of Moto Lignon in Geneva, and the fourth was Rene Riem of Athenaz, Geneva. In 1987, Mr Riem sold '0738' to Tommy Eriksson of Geneva, who kept the car until 2015 when it passed to the current vendor (correspondence on file). Since then, the Carrera has undergone a complete restoration to concours standard (retaining as many original components as possible) in the workshops of Porsche Centre Geneva who are Porsche Classic accredited at a cost of CHF 300,000 (invoice available). In a letter on file, respected UK Porsche authority, Andy Prill, states that prior to the rebuild's commencement this car was one of the most original he had ever seen and thus the ideal basis for such a restoration.

Three boxes of spare parts are included in the sale together with a spare bonnet, three sets of wheels, and a spare engine cover (without duck tail). The car also comes with a copy of Dr G Konradsheim's 'Carrera RS' reference book marked with its chassis number: '0738'. Currently registered in Switzerland, the Porsche can be imported into the EU at a reduced rate of duty, as it is over 30 years old.

With known provenance, outstandingly original, and restored to concours standard by one of the best in the business, this rare and highly desirable, matching-numbers Carrera RS ticks every box that the Porsche aficionado could wish for.

Please note this motor car is subject to the reduced local import tax should it remains in the EU.

Although the car also comes with a Swiss Carte Grise, please note the car will be subject to re-import tax should it returns to Switzerland with a new owner.

Bonhams is the guarantor of the customs duties and taxes clearance: consequently, this motor car cannot be released to the buyer or his transporter immediately after the sale.

"Close to continuous ownership history" = not continious ownership history! Maybe make that oxymorons

Probably a decent RS once owned by HRH but find it hilarious these suction professionals don't even thoroughly read their own bull$hit in the auction catalogue listing. Doesn't really do much much for credibility unless it was lost in the translation?

Agreed. Some minor niggles but from the photos the car looks very well done. Nice to see that they kept the Carrera side script off. The script was only standard for the Grand Prix White cars, optional for others. Very, very few cars selected the optional script when ordering new. The scripts were added later when it became fashionable.
