The dollar took a hit against the Mark in 1970 to 73. when I got to Germany in May 71, it had just changed from 4/Marks to the dollar to 3.85. It had been 4 marks since end of WWII. It cost me $1500 more to buy in Nov 71 than a year earlier

If true, two options would exist, one as gold Porsche /chrome 911T lettering and another as all gold Porsche/911T lettering.
And owners could choose. Or, the factory would deliberately mount it in any combination, some 2.0/2.2 911T (since any E and S had all gold) got mixed ones and some all gold ?
In all accessories list items I have, the 1969-1971 appereance/comfort group (only this time period offered), the lettering for a 911T was optional but allways as all gold, both nameplate and Porsche.
Since this option essentially imitated the all gold lettering of a 911S, owners of a 911T could have it too, even the nameplate said 911T. For a 911E and 911S this was not valid.
See below.

Only available one year in longhood era and for white versions of one limited model. Although they've been aped many times giving impression of common off top of head just over 200 cars got a set of blue. Less were green and red. For those who like details the wheels and blue decals were not ordered on the base 911744 for homologation weighing they were a conversion order item fitted after homologation weighing according to my production order.
Although parts maybe more than option, also so the 806.10 RS wheel old stock -- more specifically dated Feb March of 70 used for around 300-400 earliest examples of RS probably cut off around end of calendar 72 so a little over 300 with the no and 70 date ; certainly before end Jan / 451 example I hear.
Plastic horn push for the above used it on one model one year only until 6 Feb and most of those broken by all accounts so survivors are hens teeth

There are two other explanations for gold PORSCHE letters with silver 911T insignia:
- Everybody had way too much beer at the factory one day.
- More likely: at some point the car needed new PORSCHE letters and the only ones available were gold. At this moment, Stoddard has both gold and silver letters but Sierra Madre Collection shows silver letters out of stock.
I do know that the silver "joined" PORSCHE script used in '65 and '66 has long been unavailable while gold's available (but hard-to-find: I had to guess the part number which is 901.559.301.20). However, for a long time, the gold angled 911 script was unavailable while the silver "angled" 912 script has been available.
Today, just the gold "angled" 911 script with 46mm pin spacing is available. That doesn't fit my car but--luckily--I have one.

Going back to posts 244, 245 & 250 I wish to note that M470 is the Appearance group for the 911T only during 1970 & 1971, and the contents are documented. However it appears that from 1972 the M470 the Appearance group option pertains to both 911T & 911E, but we have no description of what is included. I need to resolve this issue.
On a 1972 911T it is reported that Velour carpet, aluminum door sills, chrome rocker panels and model name in Gold are not present, but 911S instruments, 911S rubber mouldings and rubber inserts on bumper horns are present; tinted glass is not part of the group.
