1973 gold metallic Lackschild infos / photos

hi, does anyone have info / photos of an early 1973 Lackschild (paint code plate in door jamb) of the gold metallic?

What would be the other code info on the plate? Paint manufacturer (Glasurit, Lesonal, etc.) and factory where it was painted. I've found on the Forum a plate with 144-9-3 (1973 S and 154 chassis' away from mine), a 144 911E (1973) and one with 140-9-3 (1972). So the 9-3 seems an appropriate guesstimate (9 = Porsche factory paint - 3 = Herberts?), but 144 as color code?

    On Glasurit site, I'm seeing codes 088, 133, 144, 8888 (coupe), 8810 (targa), on other sources I've seen 113, 140 as well.

I'm missing the Lackschild of my gold metallic 1973 S and need to make one.
    Any info appreciated!

Can you provide the VIN? PM fine. The codes are a bit confusing, this was a period of transition, but I have traced this data for years.

yep, thnx. Saw that one. But it's a later 1973 (not sure if that makes a difference in color code though). have scanned most gold-metallic cars here on the forum, but only very few show the actual door jamb plate; Most have a photo of the COA, which only states "gold metallic / 88" for 71/72/73 models.

Gold metallic went through several changes, but the marketing code 88 was constant throughout. Up to Sept-1st 1971 the code was 133 and from Sept 2nd 1971 the code was 140 VW Metallic Gold. Then in the fall of 1972, and I do not have the dates but it seems by November, the code changed to 144. For your car I would be very confident that 144-9-3 would be correct.

hi Dave, thanks ! This seems to confirm my own research as well, looking at all examples I've seen. I did notice, the Glasurit mixture is quite different between 133 and 140, so indeed the "88" or "8888" was a generic (marketing) number, covering a number of hues/tones/colors. And with different paint manufacturers, there's even more (unintended) color differences, which explains why one color code can be all over the place with different cars, particularly with this metallic color. Thanks again for your info!!

The car was built in the fall of 1971 and is a Targa "oil flap".
However, it was repainted to black in the 90s and then later repainted to gold.
    Golden greetings
