Stan Townes Speedster Gets Local Recognition

Nice article on a great guy and his magnificent creation. A side note. I received a call after the story broke from a former member of the Monterrey PCA. "Ihave something you might be interested in. Pictures of the car from 1976 in our local publication." I was there the next morning. Jerry Maloon handed me an original Montereyan June 76 mag. There was the car with the one missing owner in the chain of ownership. "Naw, you can have it. Just want to stop by and see your collection." Any time Jerry. Any time. One of the many reasons I love Porsche. It's about the people.

    . . . maybe ditch the Fuchs?

    That's right, Sports Fans --- stick a set o' genuine American Racing mags, back on . . . 14s from the looks of it . . .

. . . and leave them center caps off

This is really cool. I knew Stan in the 90s as a SCCA Formula Ford racer in the San Francisco Region. Never knew about the Speedster until it was posted here.

Those are 15x7 mag Americans on the car originally. You can tell this by the 5-ear cap. Haig has Americans on the car now, but they are the slightly easier to find 15x6 with the snap-in cap. (Edit...actually looks like 15x8 on the rear)
