That looks lighter and more turquoise than the Velvet Green on my Microbus. The closest Porsche color that springs to mind for me is Auratium Green from the 356A era, but Auratium Green isn't very turquoise. Or, maybe Smyrna Green from 356Bs but Smyrna Greens a bit darker.

The color code is mentioned multiple places online as a Porsche color. I did not find one photo. It does not show on the Glasurit site. You may have the only real sample for a color match.

Velvet Green is a Lesonal paint. http://www.lesonalna.com/

I have to contact them. But I think I will have to color match versus just order paint.

This car was custom ordered down to the hydropneumatic struts. My guess is that and color combination (linen interior) is that it was made for a wife. Paint may have been to sample and they just called it Velvet Green; I've never seen a Velvet Green 911.

    Shaun,

As you probably know your color was an optional Porsche color for two years from 1966 to 1967. Since the original buyer of your S chose that color (discontinued by '69) they charged the 'special' or 'paint to sample' price of $250. It looks like the special paint option code at the time was 9369. It's rare that the paint tag and Kardex don't match but maybe that was Porsche's way of keeping a ref. (on the Kardex) that your color was 'special' with the 6861 notation and at the same time letting a body shop know that the actual color was 62162 if it needed touching up or a repaint.

It looks like it might need a repaint. Do the color match

Rare that it doesn't have a 3 digit 'color code' but this was a oddball color in the years it was offered and certainly a bizarre choice in 1969. It'll look fantastic when it's done.

Been crazy busy that last few days. THank you all again for the great information. I will try to get a pic of the door tag this weekend. Just too much going on these days.

    Shaun,
Old thread, but you still owe us a picture of your A pillar tag...

Agave green was a popular color in the late 50s for VW, Porsche and BMW. Try L240 or PPG 42466.
