    Amelia Island 2015 auction results

Calling all auction attendees please post auction observations and price realizations here. Wish I could be at the Amelia Auctions this year, but family time takes precedence this time.
    Thanks everyone!

I am here. I have not been impressed with the early Porsches I have seen thus far. The RS is very nice, tho I am no RS expert by any means. I have had some very interesting conversations w attendees. Will report my observations after the hammers fall so as to not affect any possible auction outcomes. Not that anyone is really paying attention to this.

We're paying plenty of attention here! ;-)

Interesting observation on the car quality - this was predicted as I recall earlier threads about these auction lots.

Yes, I did see/attend the Hollywood Wheels Scam Auction.
What a joke. Started late, poorly run, amateur hour at best, cars with loose descriptions never once at the whole auction saying the term "matching numbers". For a supposed Porsche-only auction no one associated with the auction seemed to know a damn thing about old Porsche's. To further the pain, the Omni was completely overwhelmed by the auction crowd. Valet parking only and was atrocious. Food services at the Omni sucked, understaffed and what staff there were idiots. In the actual auction you have to stand in a long line to buy a $6 ticket to then go back inside to stand in line a bar to collect your bottle of water.
I went there to buy a specific car. I was not successful as there was an "associate" of the auction bidding up the car for a "client". I am convinced there was no such client and that in fact the car just did not sell.
If there is interest I can list exactly what happened to the first 40 or so cars until I got mad and left.
Hey, Hollywood and Omni -- Thanks for the wasted time and money. Glad to be back home in Virginia this morning. I think I will watch F1.

There was not one car that came close to their stupid estimates in their catalog. Of course I did not see the estimates or the catalog until after I flew to Florida, booked a hotel room, rented a car, and paid the $200 bidder fee. Then I realized I had been duped. Every estimated price range in the catalog was a f'ing joke.

I only looked at the longhoods, none of the other cars. Car quality was poor. Cars were dirty. Except for the 66, all cars needed work. There was a car with the vinyl pealing off the dash (69 E #122) among its other issues. Sloppy cars. Catalog estimates through the roof.

I can't say I am totally surprised. I think I went to one of their auctions a few years ago. I didn't realize it would be that poorly run; however, I contacted them about a month ago as they has a 68Normal or L perhaps, listed as an "S". Someone replied that they appreciated that it was a mistake, and fixed it...sort of. I noticed it was still shown as an "S" in some adverts. I noticed some other incorrect statements in some of the other cars as well. Sounds like a frustrating experience.

    Wouch! --- sounds pretty brutal

Be curious if these characters 'll rate a review by KM's Sports Car Market, at some point

    Then? . . . let's see what Haggerty's next value chart shows? . . .

I've been to all 4 auctions here--Bonhams, Gooding, HW-Porsche and RM.
Agree with Clarke...the HW Porsche only auction was a train wreck. Incredibly high estimates, poorly educated staff and drawn out process (e.g., Gooding took 4-5 minutes to sell million dollar cars, HW took 15 minutes per car with BS descriptions and no sales). The cars deserved better.

    Gooding was the best...94 Turbo 3.6 for 300, 97 turbo s for 400k
If u owned a Jag you got killed, some didn't make half the low-end estimate.

Oh, and pulled into hotel tonight to see a Pagani Huyuara in front of hotel.
