Thread: Porsche 919 @ LeMans

    Porsche 919 @ LeMans

So has anyone noticed the 919's claimed the top three qualifying spots for the 24 hrs. at LeMans. They dominated free practice and all qualifying sessions and setting a new track record (the old outright record is still held by a 917) Audi is a couple of seconds off the pace and Toyota seems to be struggling. The Nissans are still working out teething problems but it is a 24 Hr. race, starts tomorrow 5:30 AM PST on Fox sports 1 & 2

    Oh, here's the link

Not to quibble but it's the 919 - not the 918. Maybe someone could change the title to reflect the 919.

Lots of mishaps in qualifying and practice for everyone. I wonder how that bodes for the race itself...

I've looked into the coverage this year in the US and it is getting spottier and spottier on TV, bouncing from channel to channel (similar to F1 now on NBC's properties). But full time online. Here is the schedule:

    Web
FOX Sports GO (Saturday, June 13 at 8:30 AM to Sunday, June 14 at 9:30 AM)

    TV
Saturday, June 13 (8:30 AM to 12:00 PM, FOX Sports 2)
Saturday, June 13 (7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, FOX Sports 1)
Saturday, June 13 (11:00 PM to 12:30 AM, FOX Sports 2)
Sunday, June 14 (3:30 AM to 7:30 AM, FOX Sports 1)
Sunday, June 14 (7:30 AM to 9:00 AM, FOX Sports 2)
Sunday, June 14 (9:00 AM to 9:30 AM, FOX Sports 1)

There is the official ACO site and as usual it's a complete usability mess.

Radio Le Mans offers great sound coverage as they always have.

The Nissan's are starting from the rear. Penalised for being too slow. I hope they are there at the end.

Porsche have been blisteringly fast, they are hard on tyres though. It's a long race, looking forward to watching.

I hope to watch some this weekend. Would be great if a 919 could dethrone the Audis.

I think Audi is still the ones to beat since they are easy on tires, reliable, and have the best pitwork/strategy. Porsche have clearly focused on Le Mans with the 8MJ hybrid system which is a bit of extra weight and a hindrance on shorter tracks. But Audi won at Spa, which is another fast circuit so the Porsches can't afford to rest on their speed. They need a perfect race, and even then the Audis might go 4 stints on their tires and win it.

I'm hoping Porsche can do it.

Porsche offers live coverage online. In car cameras, Radio Le Mans link, etc.
Fox has seriously botched the coverage this year so everyone has to roll their own between manufacturer feeds, Radio Le Mans, ACO streaming packages, etc. Mess
