Thread: FS: @eBay - numbers matching 69S

Thanks Larry. I missed that. I stand corrected.
Congrats. I agree that the value is that all the "big" boxes are checked and one can do a completion/restoration according to their desire.

Agree or not, the market is putting a big premium on numbers matching cars. While visiting several Porsche friends a couple months ago in Germany I was somewhat surprised that they too are now on the matching numbers bandwagon.

There was another than slips my mind at the moment, but I'll try to chase it up.

That car was for sale earlier this year at an even lower price. Wasn't worth the asking then either. Despite the seller's claims, lot's of rust, dodgy motor and transmission. It had ben sitting for many years if I recall and may have been in an accident. I can confidently say I'd rather have the OP's car than deal with the hidden (and not so hidden) issues on that one.

I have to ask: what the heck is an "Air Pressure Gauge" (per the Kardex: 9142 LUFTD-ME).

The only air pressure I know about measuring on a normally aspirated car is tire pressure but shouldn't that be in a 1969 tool kit?

It was taken out in 1969, and made an option. I have the same option on my car.

A Dräger unit, not a Messko, in my case

I stand corrected. From the old thread 1969 Factory Installed Accessories brochure (05-08-2011, 09:19 AM):

$81,720-- good price. Well done. I think the car looks cool just the way it is . Put a coat of clear on it and just drive it. And the 2.2 S engine is a blast to drive. Chris

Restoring a 69S is no easy matter. Lots of one year only parts. As everyone knows a transitional year, 1st LWB "S", last of 2L, 1st MFI etc.
This car looked complete and a great color. Buyer can't go wrong. Ive seen very few nicely done cars and hopefully buyer gives this car
what it deserves. But it won't be cheap.

This car was offered at the beginning of the year on EBay. It was a suspicious auction where the car was bid to $195,000 and not sold.... It has slowly lowered to current BIN offer. I have not inspected but it is being billed as an extensive restoration.

How/why given the math of restoration did the buyer here pay $82,000?

Macroni, your post is confusing to me, are you saying the ebay car is questionable or that you think $82K is too much for a comparable car, when you can buy a completed one for $168K?
