FS: 911 MFI metal air filter housing

This metal air filter housing is dated 11-68 and would be correct for non-North America delivered 70 and early 71 MFI 911's. With that said, other than those with solex carbs, it will work just fine with pre 70 911s, both MFI and carbureted, using matching bases. It will also work fine with 70 & 71 MFI and carbureted 911s as long as the connection for the charcoal canister is not needed.
The cold-start spray pipe was tested with compress air and air sprays to each cylinder.
The price is $295 plus actual shipping. Can deliver to the Porsche swap meet in Carlisle on Sat 4-27.

    Thanks for looking.

    John

Great price, however I believe that is 69 only since it is for the blade clips. I think 70 used wire clips. Nonetheless, a good deal.

Not to say you are wrong but the reason I described it as correct for 70 and early 71's and not 69 was due to a post on Pelican by the late Grady Clay back in 2012. A portion of that post is included below. The one I'm selling has the two wing nuts.

"The metal ’69 air filter assembly (at the air filter port) has a single (no-over-center) clip at the top. There are two over-center clips at ~120º and ~240º. This is the same as the earlier Weber carbureted cars.
The MFI air filter assembly has the cold-start spay pipe in each side, above the intakes. The ‘69T continued to use the prior air filter assembly.
Both of these have a single opening for the crankcase breather and a drain tube.

In ’70, the metal air filter assembly was changed to two (cad plated) metal wing-nuts holding the cover on the filter port at ~90º and ~270º. (emphasis added)
The metal crankcase breather now has two openings – one from the oil tank and one from the charcoal canister evaporative emissions system.
    There continues the drain pipe.
The 911E&S have the cold start pipes in the housing, supported by rubber grommets.
The 911T (carbs) has the same metal housing but with a rubber plug at the cold start pipe openings.

My recollection is that many early ‘71s continued ‘using up’ the inventory of metal air filter assemblies.

The plastic air filter assembly was introduced in ’71

IMO, if that is put on anything but a 69E/S, meaning MY70+, you will have issues with the charcoal canister breather hose, as yours lacks the hook up for that smaller hose on the vent bung in back. 69 cars didn't have the charcoal canister.

Ad for a 70-71, no affiliation, but good pic. Note the two connections on the breather hookup on the back.

You are correct about my metal housing not having the tube for connecting a hose from the charcoal canister. Research indicates that the charcoal canister setup, at least in 70 & 71, was for the North American market but not Euro.
The one for sale does have the 70 & 71 style wing nuts vs. clips for attaching the snorkel but lacks the tube for attaching the hose from the charcoal canister. Based on that, my best guess is that it's not technically correct for 69 cars but would be correct for non-US delivered 70 and early 71 MFI 911's. With that said, other than those with solex carbs, it will work just fine with pre 70 911s, both MFI and carbureted, using its matching bases. It will also work fine with 70 & 71 MFI and carbureted 911s as long as the connection for the charcoal canister is not needed. I will revise the description in my ad.
