This 911 E Targa is one of the most sought after variants with the external oil filler cap. Having returned from the US in 2010 to Germany, the car was thoroughly restored to a high standard. A photographic documentation of which is a available. Further documentation is supplied which includes its original delivery sheet from Porsche, its birth certificate stating that it still has matching numbers and was supplied with the following extras: M 400 Alloy wheels, M 404, M 409 sport seats, M 414 – 911 S instruments and oil tank, M 565 steering wheel and M 568 tinted windows. There are many further invoices available and the car is described as being in excellent condition and ready to be registered with German historic number plates.

This beautiful 1969 Porsche 911 is one of only thirteen 911E models ordered with the “soft window” feature in that year. Porsche was proud to offer a fixed glass rear window Targa in 1969. Although it was met with immediate acceptance, there were those discriminating few who were absolutely insistent that a Porsche 911 Targa be of the “soft window” variety. Why? The “soft window“ Targa with its zippered rear window allows four configurations of touring (top up- window up, top off – window up, window down-top up, top down-window down) versus just two configurations for the fixed glass window alternative. The year 1969 was pivotal for the Porsche 911 and brought about a number of significant mechanical and stylistic changes that elevated the car to new level. The wheelbase was increased by 2.2 inches adding greater stability and ride comfort, the front suspension was redesigned to incorporate struts, the rear fender arches were flared, wider wheels and tires were made available, and Bosch fuel injection was equipped on the both the 911E and 911S models. The 911 was offered in two body styles – Coupe and Targa – with three engine choices; 911T carbureted with 125 horsepower, 911E injected with 158 horsepower, and 911S injected with 190 horsepower. Although the high horsepower 911S was generally considered as the most desirable model, the knowledgeable connoisseur oftentimes chose the 911E because it was actually quicker accelerating from 0-60 M.P.H. than the 911S due to its superior low and mid-range torque band.
This particular 1969 Porsche 911E “soft window” Targa is one of those special cars that reflected the option choices of a seasoned Porsche connoisseur. In the care of the same owner since 1991, this very rare car is documented with its original factory invoice. The matching-numbers 2.0L/158 HP engine with Bosch fuel injection has undergone a recent rebuild and transfers power to the Fuchs-style wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. Presented in special-order Silver Metallic paint with a black imitation-leather interior, this 1969 "soft window" 911E is one of 13 built and among the rarest of all Porsche 911 models ever produced.

I don't have a record of this car being a factory SWT, and I imagine the factory doesn't either...
There were many more than 13 E SWTs for 69. All the ad writer had to do was look at the below link.

1973 Porsche 911E Targa, silver with black interior. Restored California car in excellent condition, no rust ever. The car was stripped to bare metal and a high quality original color paint respray was done. Yes windows were out and all rubbers & seals were replaced with OEM German parts were used. The interior is original except the carts and seats were re-done by autos international, Targa Top was also rebuilt too. The original 2.4 liter 911E engine was fully rebuilt as well as the MFI was rebuilt by Gus at Pacific fuel injection, this thing runs great. The 915 trans was also rebuilt, new clutch installed. We also went through the fuel system, brake system (new rotors, pads, pedals rebuilt and lines). We did verify with the Porsche COA department that the colors and engine are correct for this rare car. The car has factory 7" fuchs wheels (rare). The floor pans and front suspension pan are excellent and original, Chrome and trim is nice too. I do have the front bumper guards and tools. This car runs and drives great, shifts smooth, no smoke or oil leaks, great car. We do have a clear California title, the car is sold AS IS, but we will give a six month warranty on the engine.
