Doug, thanks very much for the kind words. It really is a nice driver in a pretty color combination. I don't know if memories of the previous owner's enthusiasm cloud my judgement or if it's just the car's soul, but it's a happy car.

Hi Everyone - Not sure this the best place to post this but I appreciate the help in advanced. I am looking to purchase my first air cooled 911 and I'm concerned that the car I am looking to purchase is fake.
The car is supposed to be a 1970 911E but the 6th digit on the vehicle id is a 3. From my research "3" was for the 914/6 and 924. The engine number is blank stamped. The transmission is a 901 and the serial seems to match that of a 1970s 911E.

    I appreciate your help! Ben

6th digit is supposed to be the body type, i.e. 0 for coupe, 1 for targa and 2 for a Karman built car so I have no idea what the '3' is represents. 91102 indeed tracks with a 70 911E but from then on the number's don't add up.....and at least on the trunk stamping, the digits 30688 don't seem to match the 91102 digits in appearance and alignment. Good for you in doing this homework before passing money across the table. Perhaps others will have input.

Second appearance...something does appear to be rotten in the State of Denmark...

Just a word of caution: This car is actually a non numbers matching car with a VIN that does not exist. I looked at it previously and porsche said the car does not exist.
