Thread: Porsche 914/6 collectability

I seem to remember that there was a spacer on the hold-down bolt to take up excess length, about the size of a cylinder head nut,,,,,then again I could be dreaming

    Don..
There should not be any blocks of wood or other material under the tire.
I have seen two lengths of bolts and there may be more.
Also the head of the bolt has some different designs.
One was a "butterfly" like and the other one is the bolt shaft bent over making a loop.
They used similar bolts for 911/944 etc.
Also the old stock tires 14/15 in had larger side wall section widths and would be "taller" laying on the trunk floor.
This would have taken up some of the spacing.
Below is a pic of the two types I have on the shelf...

Looks like mine is missing a washer and a clip.
I believe the spare tire is the original to the car.
    Thanks

Looks like someone at Classic Motorsports bought a 914-6...

    “A pristine 914-6, for years was a $75k purchase. Now they’re $120k.”

    Really?

    I think not.

If so, my Tangerine car is officially for sale.

I'm with ya Frank. It'll be interesting to see what happens with the sixes at the Sotheby's sale this weekend...

I'm a driver/car handler for the RM Sotheby's auction at PEC in ATL this weekend.
Let me know over PM if you want specific pictures of the cars and I can try to accommodate.

They are at minimum worth as much as a very good 911T

    So $103,000 is reasonable.

Now one that is dialed in properly with more power and good brakes maybe a bit more.

    I totally agree Mark.

My car has a 2.2S spec engine built on the original case and is a HOOT to drive.
