Gulf BLUE ? what do you think

Here are 4 photos of my car..the first two taken with 35mm film around 1993, second two taken with a digitel camera..Sept.2012.
They look so different..approx same time late afternoon.with 20 years between the shots...
I purchased the car and had it painted factory door jam Karman # 68-6603 G in April of 1992 hasn't been repainted since.
This is 21 year old paint .......It has some cracks and chips and checking.. it's held up well..
The paint we used was Silkens Autocryl...used their formula for Gulf Blue, we flowed it on and then color sanded it and sanded it and sanded it..

\Gulf or Ossi..I've had people argue over what color it is.....any guess...I say Gulf ?
The reason it was on the roll -on, I was taking it to my shop to replace the clutch and broken cable......(we have a lift, so much easier)
    Yes it is a 912.......
    I have owned three 911's('68-'70-72) a '56 Speedster and '63 Carrera 2 and a few other 356's....
I just kept the 912 over the years as my driver-beater...and it's fun...

I am going to say it is more in the direction of Ossi Blue. Ossi blue is more radiant which your car looks. Also it looks a tad darker than Gulf Blue. And I think there is a hint of lavender in gulf blue that your car does not seem to have. Because you used a different company for paint material than the factory Glasurit , it came out a little different. by the way I think your shade is one of the most beautiful paint jobs I have seen in this type of blue. Ossi. Gulf is much lighter. More like pastel blue.

6803 is Ossi. 6603 is Gulf. Gulf wasn't available in '68, so it should be Ossi.

Also, let's keep in mind that there were two completely different Gulf blues. See post #42 of this thread for 315 Gulf blue, and post #51 for 328 Gulf Blue.

Gun, your car is almost certainly Ossi Blue. I've just finished repainting my car back to its original 'Ossi Blau'.

There are so many variables when shooting blues with a digital camera. The 35mm shots are probably the most accurate... I can't seem to get a shot of mine without it looking like Dalmation or Oxford blue.

If you click the link in my signature it'll take you to a resto thread with plenty of photos of the colour...

That is a misunderstanding many have, the 1965/66 Gulf Blue 6603 however is different and much darker than the later Gulf Blue 1973 code 328 which looks more like Pastel Blue.
I am restoring a September 1965 car now in Gulf Blue, it is close to different than Ossi Blue.

Right Now...Standing next to the car in Brite sunlight...it appears more Ossi.......to me .....and looks closer to the 35mm pictures.
What ever....it is what ever color it is.........it is definately not as dark blue as Fishcop's car

    Scott,

Not an expert on colors but noticed the following recent thread (link below) had a 69 Golden Green for sale. 1969 is not listed as a available year for #27. Also, the color of the car in the image in this post differs slightly from your's. I know monitors and camera settings have a big influence... so I'll let the forum figure this out.

Great post. Thanks for taking the time.
