    Slow Weekend!

I only got a chance to brace the shell and por15 a couple of places.

The bacing went well and I'm happy with the result. Sometime this week I will close up the hole in the inner guard.

I got the outer section fited up today and then welded it in. Much more straight forward than I thought and seems to have come up really well. I think once the body shutz is on you will barely see the repair at all. Given the wheel arch on the 70S is black, I think it will be pretty forgiving in this area.

I have finally cut away the rot at the bottom of the inner guard. Where the longitudinal attaches to this point is also pretty rough. When I removed the grafted piece from the SC shell, I took a piece of the longitudinal as well to lock it all in together.

The pics are upside down, coz I turned the car over on the octisserie! Por15 has been run over al the wheel arch as well. That stuff rocks!

I forgot to take post weld photos, but I am really chuffed with the progress. I filled the small piece I had left in the guard as well and flipped the car on its side.

Oh my......The realisation has now hit me that the floors need to be replaced. Previous welding hash't helped but the lower part of the longitudinal are gone on both sides. The easiest way to fix this I think is with the floors out.

The photos show the devastation from the poor left to right conversion in the pedal area into the u shaped piece where the steering rack sits. This area is toast. I haven't seen many threads on replacing this area. I see Restoration design has this piece. If anyone has some photos of this repair I would love to see them please?

    Wow Tim,

that sweat S really was bitten by the rust bug. But she should be saved, so keep up the good work.

    Cheers,

Sometimes you need to take a break from cut, weld & grind and just go racing!

    More Progress

I hve ground down all the welds from the nose transplant and stripped the underside to give a coast of POR15. The wheel arch is basically complete and I am up to the bottom of the A pillar.

The floors have to go as does the pedal area.

Now I have cut some of the floor away, its obvious someone cut the seat support on the inner longitudinal, where it mets the floor....Top stuff!
