Had my 69E out this weekend and want to add to the tonneau story, as it appears that I have both. No Kardex & my COA's only intimation of a swt is 'tonneau'.

Hi Rick,
I have not been here in a while but spoke to Bruce Sanson, the owner of the great red 69S softie with the lipstick red seats. He told me about this threat and you do have my car in post #40.
Here is a pic about the production data (For some reason, I cannot find the COA but I do have this letter from Porsche from 1986 when a previous owner inquired). I bought the car in 2002. It has it's original engine and gearbox, is pretty well documented, has been published a few times and the usual SoCal 911 guys know it pretty well.
Thanks for doing this threat and the other one on more research. Interesting that there now seems a count of 9 cars. before this, the number that was talked about - without any research or factual base - was 12. So that's really close. Last remark: I recall a threat in here (Maybe a sales threat?) of a 69 911S softie that went to the crusher. It was discovered somewhere but literally broken in half ...

Mike,
Thanks for the post.
The 69S SWT count has increased dramatically with some research discussed in this thread. Right now 29 per factory records, and another 10 or so "undocumented" suspects.
It would be great to see more pictures of your car.
Your car is listed in the second post in this thread:
The Ultimate 1969 Soft Window Targa (SWT) Thread
29 + 10? Holy Cow. Prices will drop big time for such a common car
I can post more pics. Where do you want me to post them and anything in particular?

Hey, Mike . . .
Really cool that you heard about these threads --- then stepped-up + posted
I'd like to see pics of any of the SWT-specific bits . . . clamps, bracketry, etc --- any of the odd-ball hardware that attaches the 'soft' parts
Plus? --- how 'bout just showing-off your car, like . . . in general?
Pic = 1k words, etc
Happy to do so. I have tons of pictures of the car. Is there a way to see the (3?) specific body brackets onto which the soft window mounts when everything is installed? I don't think so, correct?

OK, here are a few picts of my car, #119310107. First, a few shots of the entire car through the years. Next post has a few SWT details.
I bought the car in 2002 (Or 03?). Gosh, I was still somewhat young and always wanted one. So, with the second bonus check from my first consulting job out of business school, I set out to get an early Porsche. Initially, I wanted a 1965 coupe but when I actually saw my first SWT in a book - Bruce Sansone's #119310096 - I had to have one. Back then, it did not matter to me if SWB or LWB softie as long as it was a softie. I asked for help on this forum iand found member Marc Weintraub who was very kind to help out in evaluating cars. After 6 months or so, we found my car in Phoenix.
I have almost all it's history, save for the first owner, but every piece of paper from 1982 on. It appears to have never been apart for a restoration, but it did receive work when needed on engine, interior, paint, etc.. Engine and transmission match the COA. The two last owners were Porsche collectors and put 1k miles on it between 1986 and 2002. I rectified that a little bit and added an additional 14k trouble-free miles so far. The Christmas Tree decoration (aka thru-the-grille fog lights, well arch trim) is not original to this car but was added in the mid-80's. I left them on as they are now part of the car's history and brighten up the rather austere black-on-black.
Chuck, Ray, Curt and the SoCal gang know this car pretty well and are probably super tired seeing more of it. But maybe some newer members ket a kick out of it. The nicer pics are done by Jeff Koch from Hemmings as the car was featured in their magazines a few years back.
Last pic is from today's great 356 Club Tour d'Elegance run. We had 356 cars from tomorrow's Dana Point Concours with a few 912s and 911s thrown in. It was fun hanging with them again (Thanks, Jeff). The Targa was in good company with a 356 and a Rometsch.

... and here are some Targa-specific shots.
Interesting to me is that the rear seat bottoms (Underneath/ inside the storage box) seem to be upholstered ... Go figure. And the inside of the opening door has this thin layer of felt padding clued on. I have no idea of both where added during work on my car or are original ...
I also noticed that I have two snaps on the shelf, next to the little hocks for the luggage straps - see forth pic below. What are they for? In this pick, you also see a sole little male lift-the-dot receiver at a strange place. Unsure what it is for and think it must have been likely added by a previous owner? Though the tonneau that came with the car did not have the receiver thingie at that spot ....
