    1989 Portuguese GP Ride-Along

This is not the usual on-board video. It's the unedited raw footage from Gerhard Berger's cockpit camera for the entire race No music overlays, no narration, no other cameras - you see it and hear it as he did. It goes from the startup for the formation lap to Gerhard stepping out of the Ferrari in the pit at the end. One hour and 45 minutes. He wins.

This is amazing footage. I notice on Youtube a number of other full length F1 races as well.

BTW, this is Portugal, not Spain, and Berger wins. Almost looks like a jumped start over Senna.

Thanks for sharing. I wish I had the time to watch the whole thing!

Oops, Portugal! I've watched bits and pieces so far. Apparently no pit lane speed limit in 89, at least it looks awfully fast.

Great video. After watching the start a few times it seems that Berger lined up a few feet back from his painted grid position line. I wonder if this was intentional on his part, to be able to roll slightly before crossing the line? Or even if that was legal to do. It appears that he doesn't cross the newly painted line before the lights go green, but it definitely gives him a jump on Senna who's front tires are right on the line.

I haven't watched the whole thing yet, but it really makes one realize how brutal these cars are/were, and the intense concentration needed to not make a mistake for almost two hours.

The other amazing thing is that these great videos are available in their entirety. Where does this stuff come from? Keep up the good work Curt, between this and the HD version of LeMans you've helped me enjoy wasting hours and hours.
