Solex air cleaner .. dated as well?

I all these years I had not noticed this stamp until recent.

It seems that the Solex air cleaner were dated as well.

Any one have a Solex air cleaner w/ another date?

This doesn't come as a real surprise that this air cleaner has no date. The shape and lack of the upper baffle chamber over the carbs was a mystery until I was looking through my repair book. This must be 64' or prototype. I'll have to look at my other air cleaner and see what I find.

Casey to me to spot the differences is kind of easy but to readers w/ just one or non it might be harder to tell. Can you post some side to side pictures of the two different air boxes? BTW all mine are similar to the one I posted, yours be indeed prototype / 64 / early.

The images point out the differences with the later more common air cleaner.

    4 / 65

    Hi Casey,

Thank you for posting the picture of the very early Solex air cleaner housing! I've not seen one like this with the rounded end. My air cleaner half is a later model, with the date stamp 4/65, and its not original air cleaner that came with 302340.

    Thanks!

#301111 had the date 4/65, I never noticed it before. Also has the baffles and the flat spots.
