I guess this isn't too hard to rig up, but would be interested in putting the car back to original.
Looking at your picture now is the time to route the cable from right to left since it goes behind the tank under the trunk floor. You'll feel the retaining clips under that overhang. The correct battery positive cable ends are available from Porsche, as are the correct hold down clamps, and braided copper ground straps.

Is there a battery that will fit in the space on the left side of the car that will be sufficient for a 1971 911? The battery that is in there now is placed sideways and sticks out and looks bad. The fittings to the right side of the car have been removed so I would rather find a single battery solution. Thanks
the trunk carpet covers a group 24 battery. how can that look bad... most won't notice the bump... a group 24 needs to be supported from underneath... if you don't drive your car in cold northern winters, there should be no issues with an original size battey... they may even be more robust than back in the day... using a group 24 is about convenience, easy availabilty, more capable than dual originals, and at reasonable cost.

I use the same Battery Tenders on my ATV's and tractors during the winter (4 to 5 months without starting) and have never had a problem. They are compatible with Gell , AGM and regular lead acid batteries.
Can someone share which Odyssey battery fits the LWB battery boxes? Model number, etc

    Thanks

realized i should have posted my battery question in the technical forum.

looking for dry batteries for my longhoods.

looking for sonnenscheins... found these "replacements". Anyone have experience with these? Prices seem to vary greatly

    Found this

Sorry Chuck - I did do some searches and did not find what I was seeking..

My question is really around these sonnenschein replacements (since the listed batteries have such a wide range of pricing, I thought there were some real practical differences between these which I am not able to discern)... not being able to properly find the sonnenscheins themselves

Far from a battery expert here

I have used Westco Miata AGM batteries and like them. Quite available too. Slightly smaller that OE, but no leaking.
