I recently posted a thread seeking early 911 info. Thanks to all of you that answered with so much useful feedback. Well Sat. I closed the deal, a very simple and extremly painless process. The woman I got the car from has had it since 1974, she inhereted it from her father who died in 74, he was the original owner. She has moved a couple times since she got the car and it has been garaged sometimes and sometimes not, when she did not have the space, but has not been driven since 74.
Believe it or not I traded a running 1993 BMW 325i for it (no cash) she wanted a car for her son in college. I found out about the car from my landscaper who saw my 1983 944 in my garage, we started talking and he told me that he had another client whom he's known for many years and she had an "old" porsche sitting in her garage under a pile of stuff so large you could hardly see the car.
I asked him to inquire if she wanted to sell it, a few weeks later he told me that spoke to her, and she advised that she wouls like to sell it, but didn't know if anyone would want it. I spoke to her by phone and she told me to come take a look. To my surprise there is was, a 1965 Porsche 911 (complete). Before I could make an offer she told me that she wanted to enough money to get her son who was in college a car for his sophmore year.
At the time I was driving my "run around" car a 1993 BMW 325i, she pointed at it and said "something like that" needless to it was a easy decision for me, I offered her the car, she said "are you sure" and the rest is as they say "history". The last time I saw her she was extremly happy and so was I................
My landscaper even loaded it on his trailer and delivered it to my garage, how's that for a "done deal" !
