    Correct Dashboard

I would like to know what is the correct dash for a 1969 911E. I have seen pictures of them with the separate speaker cover and read where it is suppose to be the one-piece with the speaker holes in it. I currently have a plastic cover and want to replace it with the correct one. Thanks for the help!!

The original dash on the LWB early 911 had a separate speaker cover. The dashes were prone to cracking, and not that many survive today unblemished. At first the OEM replacement was the one piece with speaker holes that you mention above. Later on, the replacements went back to the separate speaker cover version with varying degrees of success. Currently, the replacements fit pretty well from reports on the board.

The thing about a "correct" 69 dash is the speaker grill is a unique size (hence the opening in the dash is as well), and I believe the fasteners or attach points are one year only too. You can get a modern replacement to fit, although it will technically be MY70+. No one will probably notice.

It's just one of the details that gets lost in the cars as time goes by.

The Lakewell.com dashes are quite nice and fit well.

Under side of a 69 dash which the speaker cover uses clips to hold in place, later ones had long studs on the corners of the cover that just push into 4 holes with plastic receiver plugs that held it in place. As stated the 69 speaker cover is a little shorter.
rpapy If you are looking for an original one? the one I have is a good restorable candidate, it'll need to be recovered including speaker cover. I also have the 69 vents but right now they're advertised over on The Samba for sale.
The downside would be the shipping cost down to GA from Canada. Aprox $75
