    CAR HISTORY

This is a One Owner Car purchased in November 1972 from BRUMOS PORSCHE in Jacksonville, Florida by the current and only owner.

In 1972, the GULF OIL COMPANY sponsored the International Daytona 250-Mile Finale Race event. As an official race sponsor, they had two 911 Porsches factory painted with specialty colors from the Gulf Logo:

    *Gulf Oil Racing Orange

    *Gulf Oil Racing Blue

This car is the factory-original Gulf Oil Racing Orange pace car. It is a one-of-a-kind color, not a standard Porsche color. A more complex color then the retail orange of the 1970's, this color is distinctly beautiful.

Only recently has this color been made available to the public, under Porsche's "COLOR TO SAMPLE" program, in which Porsche offers a car to be painted any color of there liking (including Gulf Oil Racing Orange).

The ownership of this color code number goes with the car.

    PERFORMANCE FEATURES

Engine upgraded from 2.4 to 2.7 liters; original cams were hard welded and ground to a SOLEX grind by WEB-Cam Racing Cams.

The original Mechanical fuel injector pump was rebuilt and upgraded to support the 2.7 liter cylinders and pistons.

The six throttle bodies were re-machined with new shaft bushings and butterflies; both air intake stakes were vacuum synchronized to each other for precise balance and adjustment.

Re-machined 1967 MERCEDES R-1 injector's to 17 mm which produces a superior and more efficient misty fog then the original Bosch injectors.

Cams, rocker arms, rocker pins have been Cryogenically processed, essentially ensuring endless part integrity without wear damage or fatigue. This procedure brings the material to [minus]300-350 Degrees for at least 25 hours then slowly raises the temperature to normal over a period of 12 hours. This process organizes the molecules of each individual piece of metal giving it an extremely extended life - almost without wear.

Cam housing tube plugs removed for cleaning to insure cams and rocker arms maximum lubrication; new plugs installed.

Installed new hydraulic cam chain TENSIONERS and all guide ramps and rails.

Installed Turbo lower valve covers to resist cover warpage.

Installed new rigid oil tubes and o-rings.

Installed new engine clutch plate, clutch fork, flywheel bolts and pilot bearing.

Installed new high-performance stainless steel heat exchangers with new original muffler.

Transmission completely rebuilt with new middle pinion bearing, pinion plate and two new synchronizers.

Installed Turbo Tie Rod steering assembly for superior handling control.

Installed a trombone oil cooling system to reduce engine oil temperatures, increasing engine life and efficiency.

The complete engine rebuild has approximately 13,000 actual miles on it. When the engine was rebuilt at 45,250 miles, the odometer was repaired and set to match the actual millage and currently reads 58,250 miles.

Some of the engine parts have been chrome platted for design/flair.

The original Air Condition Compressor has been upgraded to a ROTARY unit and all the air conditioning pressure lines have been replaced with all new compressed fittings. The system was vacuumed and held steady for three hours before complete charge with R12 Refrigerant.

They sure did cut up some nice interior panels for the stereo.

But I remember when we didn't care.

Who's the humanitarian that's gonna save this one?

I will be surprised if it is more than a parts car to the high bidder.
