Question Cam lip seal installation 1969S

Have just rebuilt engine and had a leak at cam seal near injection pump pulley. Should the seal be installed with the lip with the spring facing inward? Thanks.

You can use a very thin piece of plastic to form a cone shape or funnel type shape to slip the seal over the cam end, this keeps the spring in correct position. I used a strip from a plastic milk gallon bottle, its very thin, but just stiff enough to do the job. Hope this helps...
