    Sachs Clutch disc 1861 222003

I have a 1969 911S and I know there is a special clutch disc and flywheel and pressure plate for this car.

Upon separating engine / trans I found this clutch disc.

It seems to me this is not the original setup. It functions satisfactory so I'd like to get another disc for reassembly.

Can anyone cross-reference this SACHS number to a model year and designation so I can order a duplicate?

Also- What parts have been substituted and what parts would I need to put this back to original spec. I know the outrageous pricing of these items...

Wouldn't it be possible to get a clutch disc relined by a restoration specialist if I go back to original.

Would there be a (very) discernible difference in performance???

    Thanks,

    Gene

The 69S disc nr. ends with 002 like this one. The flywheel is not specific to 69S. Somebody probably installed the standard clutch. 69S has a thicker aluminum pad with steel sprayed surface, a thinner disc than standard and is NLA. Sorry about the upside down photo, Im not the master of my Ipad or my domain. If you have to have the 69S parts PM me. Kennedy Engineered Products in Palmdale Ca. makes similar clutches.

That is the old Sachs "Sport" 2.0 clutch. The current Sachs sku for the T and E 2.0 "sport" clutch is 88 1861 999 783.

The old sport disc is 1861 222 001, it and the new sport disc have material between the liners to make them compress less than the standard disc, 1861 222 003

    66S,

I'm not sure I believe that Sachs sticker. The 69S clutch disk was a unique (thinner) thickness.

What is Sachs saying here. If I am reading that correctly, that disk works in every 2.0 liter car...?

    How thick is that disk?

002 is the thinner 69S disc, 003 is the standard disc as the label says. Like the Monkees sang, Im a Believer, and have had enough of these to know whats what. When I bought my first 69S clutch they cost $79 for disc and pp. from Subtle Dynamics

I reread the Sachs label. It says up to the 69S but not including. My bad!

Replaced the clutch in my '69S back in 1975, then parked it later that year. After 40 years in the garage I just pulled the engine and trans and found the exact same disc in my car: 1861 222003 with the same red "S" on it.
So, have we decided that this is the wrong disc? (edit: this disc is a little over 9mm thick, and the proper disc is 7.3mm when new).
Now can anyone tell me what was the difference (if any) of the flywheel and pressure plate for the '69S?
Looked on the PP but there is just a white smear where the P/N label used to be.

While we are on this subject, has anyone had Kennedy Clutch make them a PP and disc for this car? I called them and they said they could make me a PP out of cast iron or aluminum, about $250 for the cast iron and $550 for aluminum. $69 for the disc. They said this was good to about 235 HP, and could build a stronger one if I needed it.
I have had the same Kennedy clutch (Stage 1) in my '66 bug with a 2.0 Type I VW motor (about 120 HP) for about 20 years and it is the best clutch I have ever had! These people know what they are doing.

Hey Bob - to determine if you have the correct disc for your pressure plate and flywheel (regardless if they are correct for the 69 only setup), I think we need to see/measure your pressure plate an flywheel to see if they are the thicker 69 only items.
