    I remember being at work when I heard the news

    I'd just come in off the shop floor, and saw all our Engineers hanging around a radio in the office, frozen

    And this image --- along with all those people standing still, then me . . . has never left me after all these years



    Still hard to believe . . .

    I was in 5th grade, we had the whole school gathered in the gym to watch it to celebrate the first teacher in space. That day and memory is the second strongest locked in my memory after watching 9/11 happen in Grad school.

    I was in the office when the news came through and everything just stopped ... still shocking today ...

    I had just deployed on my first long deployment on the Enterprise. News went through the ship like wildfire.

    Distinct memories... I was in a barber's chair when it came across the TV. Which is strange, because I was only 15 and should have been in school on a Tuesday...

    Just did a bit of research and 1/28/86 was a rare school closing due to cold weather in Atlanta area...

    I guess that date is Gen X's "where were you when you heard the JFK news" equivalent

    on April 12, 1981 at the age of 6 i watched columbias maiden flight live on TV .since that day im in love with space flight.
    on that tragic jan 28th i could not belive what i saw on TV ...a very sad day.
