    Blaupunkt Radio Identification

Can anybody tell me the model and year of this Blaupunkt (Frankfurt?) radio? Is there another means of identification as the original paper stickers are missing.

    Thanks

According to this link, it looks to be a Frankfurt (5th one down in list), missing a faceplate obviously:

I thought it was a Frankfurt - but suspect a more recent model (early 70s?) based on the knobs...

I'm pretty sure that's a euro Frankfurt circa 69-73. I may be off a little in my dates, but it's certainly early 70s.

Those knobs, I think, are pre-'69. The later knobs were flat in response to safety regulations.

    Hi Guys,
it is a Frankfurt from 71 or 72 onwards, as it has the Blue point on the Dial. The earlier Frankfurts had different Plug layout on the Rear and round connectors for the Speaker.
    Cheers

I do not know the faceplate differances between the years. But if there is anyone who knows positively , maybe they can explain. I checked a 1970 (7630) euro. Frankfurt , and it has a blue dot as the unit above. With a hole in the bottom right corner of plastic face plate.

But the FM (U) numbers are reversed....104 on left & 88 on right. AM (M) numbers are Low to Hi / L to R.

This is a bit strange , as on an oldtimer radio website. They show what they label as a 1970 Frankfurt mono.

That has the numbers plate as the unit pictured above (both bands ...Low to Hi / L to R) ?? Maybe mine is a stereo unit ? The back lays out nothing like above , and it is a large case. It has the round speaker hole (holes ? ...what I thought was a second hole for ground , I quess is a second channel speaker hole. Now that I look more closely , I see no ground wire , terminal , or hole marked ground).

Thanks all. 71/72 Blaupunkt Frankfurt it is then.

I am indeed located in a RHD country (Australia) so that may explain the direction of the tuning range. I can also confirm that the left control knob is volume and the right for tuning.

I don't think the FM (U) band being Low (88) to Hi (104) / Right to Left , has anything to do with RHD or LHD. The tuning knob is right shaft. The volume knob is left shaft.

And I did figure out the unit I was looking at is mono . Stereo units will also have 'stereo' written on the dial. I think the hole on bottom right of plastic dial is unused on Mono's. And probably has a light in it on a Stereo unit.

The opposite direction tuning for AM & FM bands , seems to be the norm for both Mono & Stereo on 1970 Frankfurts (at least large case , IF there were also small case in this year....which there does not seem to be but I cannot be 100% certain).

Here are photos of both , showing the reverse band tuning is the norm (Top photo : Mono - model 7630 640 , Middle : Stereo - model 7630 642 , Lower : Stereo / US - model 7630 629)

Fom looking at other Frankfurt photos , this seems to be 1970 only thing on frankfurts (both US & Euro) . On 1971 and 1972 mono units , Am-Fm bands tune the same direction. I also see from a decent size list with photos that the blaupunkt 4th digit year chart that circulates is only generally correct for the 1970's decade , not always.

Agreed. The Frankfurt USA unit in my car is original and has the right to left/lo to hi band
