    Question First Message / Finding my 911L's Previous Owner(s)

    Hi everyone,

    First time I write on Early 911 S after long hours spend looking for valuable advices on how to buy an early 911.

    I have done so in June: I am the happy owner of a 1968 911 L. I bought it from a DDK member here in the UK but the car is from the US (LHD).

    I am looking to know more about the car but I have no idea where to start. The only few things I know about the past of the car:
    - it was imported from the US in 2003
    - the car was registered to an owner in Camarillo, CA.
    - the car was pastel blue / cream interior

    Any suggestion how to progress?

    If you haven't already I would get the certificate of authenticity from Porsche to find out options and perhaps engine numbers and such. These certificates can be erroneous though as research on this site will show you.

    Search the web for the VIN number, see what comes up.

    Search for that CA owner's name. If you find that person and they are okay with being contacted, you may learn valuable info that way.

    Start a thread on your car on this site like many of us have. The old owner may just happen upon your story and reach out to you.
