    A "What goes here?" question

I have a leak from the top rear of my engine (1969), and I traced it back to the little breather hose with the fitting on one end going to the Injection pump, and the other to a banjo fitting that holds the oil pressure sending unit. Now, in front of that banjo bolt, is a mounted plate in a diamond-ish shape with what looks to be a little hose barb up in the middle of it. Does anything go on there? Mine's got nothing, obviously.

    Thank you.

Sounds like the early thermostat with the adjustment on top, dead center. Two 6mm nuts should be holding that onto the case and if you wipe off the old grease it should be nice bright aluminum. Nothing goes there.

That's it, Mark! Thank you very much. Now I can put the air cleaner assembly back on and see if the new breather hose will keep from leaking.

    Brian,
If I am reading your leak description properly, the 'breather' hose you mention from the mfi pump is actually the oil return line from the pump to the crankcase. Meaning there is a low flow of oil in that connection, not just vapor, so make sure you have the right clamps (two in total) in place or your leak may return.

Also check that the metal elbow of that line is properly attached to the breather cover. Mine was loose and dried out after 43 years. I used some JBweld to seal and secure mine which was the source of a small leak
