US Car History 911 1968 once converted from sandbeige to silver 11835212

    Hi,

I am Philipp and writing from Germany. I would like to get some information about my car which is a US Porsche 911 once imported to Germany.
Is there any possibility getting some information about former owners and other history in the US?

The car is a standard Porsche 911 from 1968 originally painted sandbeige and converted to a silver 911S equipped with a 2.2l MFI S-Engine and deep six Fuchs wheels. The VIN is 11835212. As mentioned above it is a US model imported from Sana Anna to Germany in 1994.

The last owner I was able to follow up was a guy called T. Clinton who purchased the car in 1989 from a key grip (film business california/L.A.) see pictures attached (from 1989). T. Clinton told me that the rear mirror was mounted on the left fender instead of the door. The 2.2S MFI engine as well as the 911S decal were already installed when T. Clinton bought it from the key grip.
    The VIN is 11835212.
Unfortunately I don't get further with my research.
    T. Clinton does not remember the name of the key grip.
Beside the name "Fred Goddard" and a number "687-6657", which is written in the american drivers manual, I don't find any further information. I know that Fred Goddard was a famous racing driver. He died in a traffic accident in Wisconson USA in 2007. I was already in contact with his son, but he was not able to help. Perhaps there is another Fred Goddard in California?

I know it's unlikely that this works, but I try it anyway...

    Thanks from Germany

    Philipp

    Welcome Phillip,

I had to re-read your post before I realized that they hadn’t made post war CA. track housing and planted palm trees in Germany....

Good luck on your search.... this is the place that just might give you another clue, if not the answers to your questions....

    Hello, Phillip . . .

. . . and welcome to Our Little Corner

I see from your comments + photos that your 911 was once registered in CA, so . . .

. . . you may be in luck

CA DMV maintains records on vehicles once registered in the state. You can request those records by submitting form = INF 70R

    I've gone through this. More here --- see post #341 . . .

Thank you all for your prompt and helpfull reply! This sounds really promissing. Do you think there is a chance to get information even the car is already back in Germany since 1994 and am I allowed to request the information even I am not registered in Germany?
The only thing I have from the american history is a copy of the last title.
    Best regards from Regensburg, Germany.

Unfortunately I still was not successful by completing my car history in California. But probably someone can tell me where this phone number written on the last page of my driver manual is. Mostlikely it should be in California. Perhaps Fred Goddard is not the famous Porsche race driver as assumed but one of the former owners who lived in CA. Could the phone number 687- 8657 be correct for CA? What does the 687 mean? Could it be a country code?
Thank you and best regards from Germany

I would guess you have the phone number, but are missing the area code, which preceeds the number you have. So, you need the first 3 digits. Depending on what part of California, or the US, it could vary greatly. ###-687-8657.

I hope you can figure it out, as I am trying to do the same thing, but in reverse. Trying to get history from Germany.

Google the name Fred Goddard and California.

There are two people showing up with that name and age 65+
    I would start there

I found out that the sister car with the same color (sandbeige) and similar VIN 11835211 (my VIN 11835212) was also deliverded to
to VW Porsche Pacific Culver City California. Thus I assume that my car also spent its whole life in CA. The sister car was already topic in this forum (click)
Coincidentally also the sister car found its way to Germany and we were able to reunite both cars three weeks ago (click)!
The last owner of the sister car was able to complete the history up to the first owner in the menatime!

@peanut: If there is anything I can do for you here in Germany, just let me know.... if you want send me the name via PM...

    Regards
    Philipp
