1973 Carrera RS Cars for Sale

I normally refrain from commenting on aspects of cars in for sale posts. However seeing this car is supposed to have had an extensive (650 hours at How much an hour?? :eek:) restoration back to original by a specialist in the Marque does it even have the correct wheels on it? I think that they are later wheels based on the two holes in the cap signifying a later ring version rather than the three prong ones that fit the earlier wheels. Am I correct in that observation?

or am I just being too picky?? and I have not even started on whether it still has all the correct original options and internal finish .

No not too picky. It looks as though they used a whole tube of bathtub caulk on the front latch panel. Radio grill, missing hardware...probably lots more. Are those hedge clippers in the tool kit?

Wrong speedo, wrong speaker grille, wing nuts on the fuse cover, missing clip on the flapper box connector tube....

Anyway to determine complete VIN? I did not know Grand Prix White was available in 1973, sure looks like Light Ivory in the pictures.

Doug. Grand prix white was the "RS only" special colour for 1973, teamed with red (as here) Blue or green accents (decals wheels etc)

For someone with the right database, it should be quite easy to identify this car:
- 911 360 0???
- GP white with red accents
- Delivered in Germany
- M472 (and certainly not M471 as written on the invoice file)
- M410: Sport seats
- M419: Safety belts
- M433: Fog front lamp?
- M449: Radio
- M559 (AC, very unusual, it seems)
- M571: Fog tail lamp

You are correct :) I dont know in the current age when information is so accessible, and in particular for RS's where all the details on each car has been documented now in the RS book since the early 90's, why the numbers on such a car would not be published in the advertisement.

There is only ONE car, of all the ones produced, that fits that description and you are also correct that it is not a M471. I think one of the most interesting things is that M471 written on the document when it was always a M472 car - at least according to the RS book. Given the information posted in the photo of the car is enough to identify the car I dont suppose it hurts to reveal that it is 911 360 0218. I can see the documentation for the Blaupunk Lubeck radio tape (option 449) for the car but wonder if it (should be serial number 4563414) is still with the car given that the white Iodine TTG fog lights (M433) and what I believe should have been chrome (rather than black) cut out horn grills dont appear to be with the car and neither is the rear fog light. However it does appear to have the stainless steel Muffler skirt (M427) which was not a part of its original build sheet and the photo of the passenger compartment just shows the air conditioning vents (if you look hard)

It seems like a great car so the presentation, or lack of it, surprised me.

By the way air conditioning isn't that unusual - 66 cars had it (M 559) - all of them LHD and M472 cars. 15 to Brazil ( all the ones that were ordered for there - not surprising); 1 to the canary islands; 1 to France; 28 to Germany; 11 to Italy; 2 to Japan; 2 to Mexico; 1 to Reunion; 2 to Spain; one to Sweden and 2 to Switzerland
