Hi Matt, I am sorry for the delay ... I have only positive identification of 1 oelkappe in ZA ...

I have a ‘72 T with no record of the original engine number. Does anyone know where I can locate the engine number now that Porsche will no longer provide?
Thanks - RE
Ray, a PM has been sent. It is not really a problem at all. Dave
As promised ... it is time for an update: data are now consistent for 796 cars (+56 since 9 Feb 2019), precisely 375 MY 1972 and 421 MY 1973.
https://www.no-speedlimit.it/image/stats24s.jpg
All the national data are up (CZE is a new entry), with some notable (negative) exceptions:
1972:
- ITA down to 20 from 24
- MLT down to 0 from 1 = disappears from table
1973:
- GRE down to 0 from 1 = disappears from table
TBD = To Be Determined = I do not know / not sure
For some stats on the colors, see this thread
Do you have 230 0347? I am going to see this car which is currently in Austria next week with a view to purchasing it and importing it into the UK.
The car was supplied to Porsche Salzburg in Tangerine with M409 Recaros in black leatherette with houndstooth inserts in 1972, is in 100% original condition bar the M409 Recaros which are to be put back in (standard seats currently fitted at the request of the first owner), has complete documentation and was always maintained by Porsche Salzburg until 2005.
The original owner had it from new until his death in 2005 and it has had just two owners since then (one being the first owner's son to whom it was bequeathed but he didn't want it!?! and the second being a German collector who had an identical car and decided he didn't need two!).

Hi, yes, I had it in my DB ... here is a snapshot, although not really visible, I realise ... anyway, great car, great provenance, hope you can strike a deal. Krgds.
Attachment 558559
Looks fantastic, hope you can acquire it!
I inspected the car yesterday and it is a little orange unicorn of a car, so I agreed to buy it.
Prior to completion of the sale it will have the originally-supplied M409 Recaros put back in the car instead of the standard ones currently fitted, a full service with everything and anything requiring attention attended to, new Pirelli CN36s all round and the originally-fitted flag door mirror instead of the large Durant mirror currently on the car.
Georg Konradsheim is a pleasure to deal with, extremely honest and straightforward, and clearly cares very much about early 911s - I had to demonstrate that I would be a suitable candidate to be only the 3rd custodian of the car in 50 years and would take appropriate care of it during my ownership!
I am very much looking forward to receiving the car once it is ready to be transported to the UK and shall enjoy driving it on sunny days in the Cotswolds.
Hi Biancaneve
I have an early 2.4 engine that is looking for it's original car. Engine no 6120205 (911/51) has been professionally rebuilt with less than 3000 mi. Maybe one of your members has the car or could use a very early 2.4 with Webers. If any interest contact Jduffield38@gmail.com
Hi, if not done yet, you might post it here.
Cheers.

Hi M,
Appreciate all the work that you’ve done gathering all this data. Not sure if this one has been accounted for yet in your database but it’s a rare Signal Orange ‘72S, #505, which is located in the San Diego, CA area. Let me know if you need any other info.
Doc
Not sure if you have this one listed yet.

Sorry I don’t have any photos. I’ve had the booklet near 25years from someone in Germany .
Attached a foto of 063 if you don’t have her, sold new in Germany and after purchase had an extensive factory modification for Rallye

Thank you Robert; of the 0063 I only had this reference ...
As far as the 0928 is concerned, we have to assume she's lost, am I correct?
a very late build (June / July 1973) manual 911S ( ie not a sporto). Either a coupe with a vin around 9113301300 to 1340 or a targa with a vin probably above 9113310850
91123000916 is in Oregon. Restored and original Viper Green non sunroof. It's very nice I spent some time with it on Saturday.
Bringing this US-delivery 72S back from a series of poor decisions by prior owners.
Will publish VIN if the owner permits.

Hello, I purchased this car (9112300505) last year. It is a ‘72S in Signal Orange.
- Tranny number is numbers matching to the COA: 324161
- Production number is: 1022589 and the Invoice Date is 1972 02
I have not been able to find the Production Completion Date. From information in your registry can you narrow down a production month and year?
In December I had the interior redone.

I think it is early in January 1972. 0538 and 0550 were completed on 14 Jan but that may not be the best comparison as they were both ST's and (at least for the last part of their construction) would have been completed on a different production line. However one of those also has a production number very close to yours (within 10) which may be a better indication of when the production of the car was commenced
Also the little spec book says that the last 911S completed on Dec 31 1971 was 230 0489 However in all of these comparisons it is important to note that they are not completed in vin order.
To add a bit of extra data 0415 was a December car and 0576 was a January car.
Here's a VERY nice, pretty late, Black on Black #1505 ...
This car will be featured in the coming SPRING issue of our ESSES ... ;)
Cheers
Mine is numbers matching and I have an early COA with all that data. Mechanically sound but has Webers instead of MFI. And the Sport Seats it came with are long gone. No radio either. It has period correct Wolf Racing alloy frame seats and an old Raid wheel complete with an alloy hub.
I have had it for 30 years and it has been rained on ONCE! :o
Needs a dash, knee pads, door toppers and door panels (just want plain black ones and a RH drive left door pull) to finish up the inside. After that I will start addressing the paint.
It was silver but was painted white (not sure how many times). I call it a 50 footer as it looks great from 50 feet. :) It is pretty straight, but as a 50 year old car an acquaintance used to pick up girls at the bar and let them drive, it has its issues.
Amazingly it has all the original body parts and even original windows with the green tint. Even with 108K on the clock, it "runs like a clock". Finally have those Webers right, and I kind of like them... but... I wish they had a choke or enrichener. It can be a pill to start when cold.
BTW I have the original dated 1972 wheels. Even the original "Dog Bone" spare that has never been put on the ground. Went to 16s for the 15" tires were a PITA to get at the time. Even have a 16" spare riding up front.
Attachment 589293
sorry for the offtopix, regarding your green crystals! Is there an option code for it? It is something that has never been clear to me since in my car they come "tinted" does not indicate color in the extra number 568
That is the plan when the engine comes back out to be renewed. The Webers are restored and I learned a lot by going through them sever times... LOL!!!
Funny, I never noticed the green tint until I took pictures of it. All the glass is original, even the windscreen. I want to pull it and install all new seals and fix any minor corrosion it has, but I am terrified of breaking them. It needs a new dash so that will happen with the new windscreen gasket.
I have owned a body repair and refinish shop and have restored cars before, but I "farmed" the glass work out.
I am not sure if you have my old car in your database.

I have a photo somewhere (prior to digital era). Bought by me on the 15/10/97 and sold somewhere around 2000.
You have my current '73 S coupe in the database if I am not mistaken. Can I ask how many 73 S do you have in RSA accounted for?
My grain of sand... At least 4 2.4 911230... arrived in the Canary Islands.
It might well be. Do you have any reference, beside yours?
I presume this is for me.
Here is my initial post as an introduction to the registry.
https://www.early911sregistry.org/fo...092-and-myself
of course, 1215,1525,1748.....this last one interests me enough to locate it. I have not yet been able to trace it although I have its registration.
On another island.... Mine arrived, 576 and there is also another VIN of 72 registered to which I am not going to give credibility. I hope these data!! They help you in your compilation... It is a unique task!
Interesting fact about these vehicles, when registering the vehicle it is registered with a motorization of 2195 in the first 3 that I have named you, from what I understand, someone, on that island... He was changing the displacement or to pay less taxes or to " run rallies" faster...since none of these cars have been seen in rallies, I have to understand that they are registered with that displacement due to something "I don't know"
This is my 70 S 9110310204 it has 2.4 6331162. I have owned the car since 1980, the prior owner had replaced the engine.

Hi everybody ... for those who like those stats, I was able to extract some hard facts from the Belgian records:
during the course of the time, exactly 41 1973 MY 911 2.4S Coupe' have been or are registered in Belgium (I know all the corresponding chassis numbers). As soon as I will have time I will be looking at 1972 ... the research requires a lot of manual processing.

I have 911S 1973 9113300677, was sold new in LA, the last owner raced the car from at least 1979 to a few years ago, I understand that he passed in approx 2021, original colour 936 Silver, Koni Shocks
There are lots of references to Len Cushman in the various Porsche magazines, I found several of the Los Angeles region mags on Ebay. Len's widow was very kind in providing me with lots of his photographs and several of his trophies, it has many receipts from Aase brothers and others.
The original motor is in the car, the diff carrier portion of the trans was swapped out for an aluminum one but the original case was inside the car when I bought it earlier this year, I will have it rebuilt using the original case.

9112301748 I will look for more information about this vehicle. Given the proximity to VIN 47, I will not engage in discussions or conjectures. I suppose everyone has their own level of maturity with Porsche history and will be able to assess the different information about the vehicles. Registered as 911 S, it would be interesting to track these two 911"S" from 1972.

You're welcome !!!
I'm searching the chassis number of ACD810K (UK registration), maybe you have it in your base ?
Excuse me for wrongly asking. I as referring as to what car is 278? (Coupe, Targa, where was it delivered, etc) and also 280. I know about the CoAs (this is not my first classic Porsche) but I was wondering if going to the Porsche Museum will be able to get more specific data on my car... Grazie!
Hi again, this thread refers to the Coupe', i.e. 911230xxxx for MY 1972 and 911330xxxx for MY 1973. As far as the Porsche Museum is concerned, probably they can give you some additional info, if the car is of some historic relevance. As the Kardex system was discontinued a couple of years before, for 72/73 there is a sort of build sheet. I think Davep can provide you with additional details.
You asked about 9113300279, so the 278 and 280 would be the coupe series as your car is. I do understand your confusion since the use of only 3 final digits could mean coupe or Targa; it just takes some extra effort to figure out the context and hope that the person replying got it right. A full VIN does make it perfectly clear; and seachable also.
Data for a CoA-type of Report is available to me, and it generally contains more info than the CoA as was previously posted. For the RS models a Fahrzeug-Auftrag may be possible; also for some Turbo models. Very rarely a Kardex is available for 1970.
9113300677 is for sale and will be listed on Bring a Trailer in the next week or two, it has its matching number engine still installed and original trans casing included
The blue California plates 007 JSV are, to the best of my knowledge, the original number issued by DMV in 1973, they are photographer on the car in 1978
I will also post this in the For Sale section

Niushork,
I previously owned 911 330 0278. It is a RHD UK delivered, sunroof coupe, with factory e-windows and originally Sporto transmission, but converted to 5 speed manual early in its life. Original paint Aubergine, fitted with leather sports seats.
Not currently on the road and hiding somewhere in New Zealand.
Very cool car. Also sad that I never got to see it in person at EASY. Those California blue plates are closer to 1974-5 issue by my estimation but still neat to see. My ‘72 had plates that started with “F” and a good friend had a ‘73 that started with “H”. Maybe it sat on the lot for a while? GLWS
Sorry I didn't get to meet you at Easy Peter, I came along rather late with my son,
Ref the plates I was told that the 73 cars did hang around longer than before, it may have been something to do with the fuel crisis, I don't know. I understand that the silver cars suffered when sitting at the port in Texas, the strong sun causing the the paint to check. Maybe that's why the car was colour changed. If you are up this way you are more than welcome to come and take a look at the car, I'm in Pleasanton
Biancaneve,
I’m trying to track down 278. It hasn’t been on the road since the beginning of 2021 and has changed hands a a few times since I sold it. Will keep you posted.
Sportomatic 9113300278 was first registered in the UK in October 1972 The original motor number was 6339048. Aubergine as you say. first registered with licence plate 1JBC which would’ve been a personalised plate of some value in that format ( three letters preceded by 1), in fact probably very valuable fetching six figures for such a prestige licence plate if it came up for sale today I suppose? 1 with three digits is earlyish in UK vehicle licence numbering system.
There were I believe 27 rhd Sportomatic 911 TES delivered to the UK during model year 1973. Of which, just two Sportomatic S coupes delivered in the UK that year plus one more was a Sportomatic S but a Targa. The latter’s configuration was actually more expensive than a rhd Carrera RS M471 Sport and perhaps even more expensive than what was seen as the top of range RS M472 Touring which due to having S trim was more expensive than the Sport! 911 Targa was only available first time in RHD for model year 73 so that example is unique unless another 911 Sportomatic Targa S went to a rhd market like Aus NZ SA HK ?
This is a magazine advert for the Earl’s Court British motor show held October 1972
Attachment 611674
I think I might have the original British press release regarding the rhd targa and I certainly do have an original black and white press photo print of the targa in rhd its by the importers preferred photographer. His Ink stamp is on the reverse. Also have a period magazine review of 73 911 Targa —rhd E model (not an S) featured in launch press — importers reprint of magazine road test of 73 that was used by them as a dealer brochure. Rare literature that probably better with one the 73 911 rhd targa rarities rather than gathering dust on my shelf.
I understand there were four Sportomatic S coupes imported to UK by concessionaire PCGB during model year 1972; I have a friend who owns one of the four think he is just its second owner and keeps it in clean condition still in Sportomatic S coupe form. Afaik no lhd S Targa 911 imported by Porsche GB to UK in Sportomatic S form that model year.
Hth
Steve
Hi Steve,
This is fascinating! Yes, that was the engine number which was in the car when I owned it. I'm uncertain of the current condition of "1JBC" but it would definitely be worth finding given it's rarity.
There is a RHD 1973 Targa currently being restored here in NZ. It's ex-UK. The chassis number confirms it as an S but the original engine is no longer with it, replaced with an E-spec engine.
I suppose if it’s GB 73 it’s the unique sporto S targa I mentioned. I probably have it’s chassis and original motor details also note of it’s original colour and the licence plate when first registered in uk in 73 which in turn could point to its supplying dealer ( that’s if it was not a cherished personal plate where the vehicle licensing office becomes obscured.) Seems the first owner really wanted that spec and was prepared to pay — that configuration was twice price of brand new e-type jaguar. Or maybe importer PCGB felt they obliged to take one as demonstrator I assume they along with importers in other markets had to push for factory to even make a rhd targa in the final year before G series refresh ?
However in fairness to current owner I won’t post here as ESR is open on www — I chipped in to posts about your former car since most details were already written but to be fair to owner of this different perhaps unique car I won’t initiate sharing specifics as they might not want such details made public in a forum. Do you know the owner?
Steve
we got 4 RHD S 5 speed targas in 1973 and 2 RHD S sporto Targas in Australia/ NZ. One was Gulf Orange and the other Silver
The sole rhd sporto s targa that Porche Cars GB imported in model year 73 was green — the source I have says “emerald?” green.
Hi Steve,
I've sent you an PM with some off-line info.
The RHD 73S Targa I mention is a manual, so not the unique 911 you refer to. Original colour is Metallic Silver. Options believed to be Leatherette Sports seats, rear nudge bar, rear wiper, TTG driving lights. Separated from its original engine as mentioned.
The previous owner is a friend of 35+ years. I've known the new owner for 2 years.
I wonder where that unique Emerald Green Targa is????
Gary
Hi Gary
Nice to hear from you. I don’t have anything much on non Sporto . I did digging for a friend on UK sporto hence what I shared was on car with that transmission. Sorry don’t have info. I do have the original British 73 price list one pager genuine as printed by PCGB — mimeograph old paper size foolcap I think — which is as they ran copies off a typed master in 72/3– I might sell but it is rare so would be expensive.

Hello Biancanieve, could you tell me how many vehicles you have listed between VIN 495 and 600? I believe that VIN 600 was delivered around January 25. I would like to know how many of these VINs still exist today, as I consider that some interesting cars were delivered in January. Perhaps among these VINs there is a Z-Programm vehicle or a "cataloged" vehicle as E in 1972. From my perspective, I think that from VIN 495 (a few just after the New Year) until late January or early February, some interesting cars were delivered, with a particular focus on January, where in different years I see special cars, factory-owned vehicles, etc. Best regards.

WOW !!! .... Very cool
I am new to the forum and air-cooled Porsche ownership. I have a 1973.5 sportomatic 9113102343. It is an Aubergine/tan coupe. Do you have sub group in your registry of sportomatics? I am interesting in meeting other 1973.5 sportomatics owners, seeing how many cars are still in existence as sportomatics and see the if there are any other Auberegine/tan sportomatic coupes out there. I know of an 1973.5 Aubergine/tan sportomatic targa in Europe for sale. I think part of the fun of these cars and community is learning about our cars.
Hi, thanks for your message, I'm only keeping track of 911 2.4S Coupe', MY 1972 (E model) and 73 (F model). Surely I do also have registered some of them as Sporto. I am pretty confident that other are dealing with other specific models like yours', but I don't know whom. Try to browse the old posts, if not done yet. Good luck, kind regards.
Thanks for your reply

Wow!!!! My first Porsche was 911 330 0278 :D painted Aubergine.
Haha, only Porsche owners remember the chassis number of the 911 they bought 40 years ago.
Your car looks beautiful. Wonderful backdrop!
We have recently bought
We are based on the south coast of the UK, yes engine chassis along with gearbox all match.
Also 4 wheels date stamped May 1972 spare is date stamped June 1972, also still on original clutch which is date stamped feb 72, the car was originally supplied in Belgium, we think the first owner was in the chiropractor as there is a Belgium chiropractic sticker on the front windscreen.
It was then imported into the UK in 79/80 then layed up from June 1981 until March this year when we purchased the car, mileage believed to be correct at 19,000 km.
Any help in finding out about the first owner in Belgium would be greatly appreciated.
I've checked in the Belgian MoT data base but I couldn't find any info on the car ... I think that they didn't insert the obsolete data when doing the transition to the digitalized system in the late '90s ... if you wish I can try to find it via the secretariat of the Belgian Historic Vehicle Association (I'm a member and a president of a local club) ... that might issues with privacy (we might need a certificate of property) and for sure some costs associated. If you want to discuss it, pls write me at info@no-speedlimit.it .
Hello,
I've recently purchased #1390, an Italian car I believe delivered to a Porsche dealership in Turin, Italy.
The receipts and documents are in Italian, which I cannot read. At some point in the future I'll have someone translate.
Original engine and transmission. Much of the car is original paint, however, someone sprayed a clear coat over the entire car.
It has the front oil cooler loop, a 85 liter plastic tank, small bumper guards, and clear lenses.

Google Translate now has an image function which works unbelievably well, even with reasonable handwriting. I had about 25 years of Dutch paper receipts on my 73S which I was able to mostly translate into recognizable phrases (like "replaced cam sprocket" and 'installed hydraulic chain tensioners") using Google https://translate.google.com/?hl=en&...l=en&op=images
Thanks I'll try that
Hi, thanks for sharing your experience. More on your car at this link. In case you need support in understanding with the documents, feel free to sending over to info@no-speedlimit.it ... I'll try to help (free of charge).
