A very minor observation but as owner of one of the other circa 50 first 500 series RHD RS curios why it now has a second external mirror? I suppose a subsequent ownwr must’ve fitted one to passenger side so still there now despite stockers apparently harking back to “as deployed” at targa florio event in May 73. British RHD 911 / RS had one round mirror typically on the driver side in RHD (RL) configuration.
This can be seen from the period pictures when it was quite new in spring 73. Sweden got two round mirrors one of which was convex. Also there were two option numbers which from memory resulted in position being different on doors. I have the two somewhere.
Wonder if much is visible behind for the driver using the passenger non-original round mirror in that position? Maybe they found and used convex Swedish spec round one?
Also I prefer to see earliest first series RS on 6&7 as they were the spec when the original 500 were sold and made. When new and used at event seems
to have 6&7 in old photos as I’d expect of 500er - not a big deal as wheels are a bolt on and common to change when wider rims became available and fashionable.
7&8 began be seen around springtime but car has single loke id expect in May.
— later /current owners prerogative do as please of course but with the sponsor stickers it seems like resto was aiming for it to be as at Targa but as
listed some differences including those noted.
Hard to be sure if such things are restorers lack of detailed knowledge or poor attention to detail or simply a choice made by owner to keep later additions as part of the cars life story.
To be clear I’m pleased to see a special British market RHD example with interesting history about to come to market despite a few small things like mirrors and wheels catching my eye.
