1973 Carrera RS Cars for Sale

'Despite intensive research and constant contact with the first owner, Mr. Roland Martin, it was not possible to find out exactly why only the production number 1037432 is documented at Porsche Classic' You would expect that Herr Martin would be able to tell the true story, strange that Porsche Classic doesn't know.

BTW, what is 'The original, very light aluminum automatic clutch from ZF Hennig'?

Found an old picture of 1095 with similar extra replacement body VIN number..
Now it has the single VIN number stamped

What a coincidence. Two RS that happen to have the extra stamps. In the
case of vin stamps perhaps less is more ( exceptions such France Sweden notwithstanding )

So Cees did RS 1095 have a replacement body-shell before getting RS 729s body-shell ? By time if 1095 probably the original bodyshell would have been same as regular TES shell so seems like a lot of loops and hoops for a M471 Sport that might never have been lightweight shell anyway


I did notice and wonder about the automatic clutch comment. (Some) original RS did have different lighter weight clutch components than Series cars a unique to RS pressure plate with different part number — but not automatic
!?

I purchased a used one said to have been the factory part removed from a rhd M471 Sport. Did so out of curiosity (paid peppercorn amount or maybe being nice chap he threw it in free when I was buying some other parts from him as he was pleased his bits and bobs were gong to a genuine rhd RS owner ). It might still be squirrelled away in a dark corner but not sure where I put it — never really looked at it with being used wasn’t bought to fit but remember discussing the RS clutch being unique part in 73 with seller who was clearing some RS bits from garage having sold the RS. We were both aware that it was different part number for RS and seem to recall aluminium being mentioned by him but can’t say I ever then looked to see what is different to others I’ve fitted to 72/3 when hanging out with my late my pal who was a specialist in 911 since 74. Should’ve taken it to compare and weigh — he had been in business working on Porsche only since 74 so not much he hadn’t seen but sadly no longer with us. No clue where I put the old clutch part when I unloaded after trip but if I ever find it I’ll pay more attention to the details.

Indeed a coincidence that the two German delivered RS's appear at the same time with similar oddities, Freisinger involvement on both? Just speculating...
Looks like 1095 was already re-bodied with a 1973 replacement body and then got rebuild on 0729. I have a couple of more early pictures of the 1095 with dual VIN numbers and it was in a real sorry state; half of the floor gone, lots of rust elsewhere. I have no other info how the story before re-bodied (again) with 0729 and even if that is true. Difficult.

Any commentary on asking price, color, other?
Several months ago the sales person unequivocally told me it had an original 6k km. An internet search quickly showed records of the car with color change and 100k+ km which i sent to the sales person asking for an update on their description. They never responded. That said, it seems like a decent RS. I think asking price is overly optimistic. Personally, I kind of like the color, but I think it’s rare (4 in Olive) because it was unpopular at the time.
