A hint that if you place any value on value it isn't the car for you. ;)
It should come with a view of a lake, golf course and at least a 2 car garage.:D

Just had the RS yesterday out on a slalom with the R-gruppe boys, just so much fun sliding over the course! Some found it brave but I don't see the pleasure in just looking at the car sitting in the garage. The ONS car with the 2.8RSR engine did compete as well. Shame that the outside temperature was -3 degrees or so, difficult to get heat in the tires..

Right on Cees. A faster speed version of the skid pad at Boxberg.:D
I just found out that the last 100 73 RS's built had an Alloy Case motor. Is this true? Thats very cool!! There must a huge premium for this... Anyone have an idea?
It's complicated.......
To answer your questions; No, both materials were used. And secondly, IMO, the aluminum case is not a huge premium. Produced out of necessity to homologate the 3.0 RSR, it serves no advantage to the 2.7 motors. Heavier too.
I would imagine, however, it will be similar to the late 300 SL Roadsters with alloy block for future collectibility.
I agree, it does not seem to have been a sequential build of the last 100. In fact, I don't think anyone actually knows exactly how many had the silumin cases at the end of production. What I do know is mine has one!

Years ago the very last RS was owned by a local PCA member. The car was a huge project when I saw it. The engine case was in the mechanics shop we both used for years just sitting under a bench. I inspected it several different times and can confirm it is Mg.
