Looking for an outstanding 1973 Carrera RS with a good history, fully restored and in concourse condition. Top dollar paid for the right car.:)
The current trend with buyers and sellers of '73 RS cars is to be "quiet." I know of five RSs for sale and none are allowed to be promoted, mentioned; photos circulated, etc.

They were all hammered. Few showing up these days have escaped 100% unscathed. I'd be very dubious of anything "popping up" now. It doesn't matter how ragged or beat they are under current RS "economics".
Re-bodied cars are out there. Should you desire the best there is I'd take no less than history from day one. $500,000 for a pile of parts isn't my cup of tea.
These are now "show cars". New money in the market have driven the prices up to crazy levels for what they are.
O.T. But must say that I saw one of my favorite cars ever yesterday. A 356 S-90 GT. Aluminum doors, hood and decklid. Airboxes on the louvered lid. This is a real road-race ready Porsche in its purest form.

I know that S90 GT well. A friend here in CO/WY owned it. It was being refurbished by Norm Miller at the BugShop in FT Collins, Co at the same time as my ex Bruce Jennings speedster (84438) was in for the same. It was silver then. Bill Bencker wanted it back and I think traded a speedster for it. Bill got it and had the car put back to heron grey. I had the pole position on it but did not buy it cause I had too many cars at the time. It too is one of my all time favorite Porsches... especially knowing Bill. Now back to your regularly scheduled RS programming.
Certainly quite a few have been Tom. Some with known documented history, many without. The really special ones are out there, but you have to know the secret handshake to see them.:)
Steve: The one I saw was in a shop here on the East Coast. This is only the 2nd one I've seen in person. The other was Condor Yellow. I've got lots of photos because I wanted to take my car ('64SC) in a similar direction at one time. Who knows? By the time it gets to that point I'll have probably changed my mind again. I've got a GT gas tank and Russ Rodriguez can knock out a pair of seats in a few weeks. :) The interior is stupid simple.Quote:

Back to 73 RS...9113601059 just sold by Bonhams in Spa for EUR 181k, or $233k. Far from perfect, but prices in Europe seem to remain lower than in the US.

I don't know what to think about 1059, blank case, VIN number stamp very odd etc. Hope nobody got burned big time.
