Raj, I wonder if that's my old six. I didn't see the vin.
Just finished my read on #20. Congrats!
Some like it, some do not. Spot on Raj - ugly or pretty, you cannot deny that they elicit a reaction where ever you go. My little blue car will stop people dead in their tracks to look and crane their necks to watch it drive by. "Look at that ugly car or damn, that is cool" - don't know which, but it sure gets a rise. Kinda fun to watch actually.
Every time I put gas in my 914 someone comes over to comment on it. Early 911 not so much.
Following Mike's comment, 9 times out of 10 when I am filling it up or parking it, a guy will walk over and strike up a conversation. (Happens about 1/3 of the time with the 911) Usually they have owned one way back when and want to talk about theirs and what mine has going on. Kids thinks the tiny loud (sport exhaust) car with the roof off is pretty cool, and get lots of thumbs up or 'that's cool!'. My wife calls it 'the fun car' and I couldn't agree more, even though the S is plenty of fun in a more refined way.
Will post some picks of it once it gets back front the rear quarters massaged for 7s.
I recently acquired a 1971 914-6 from the original owner. I sold my 1987 911 silver metallic Carrera to buy the 914-6.
I wondered if I would regret letting go of such a beautiful 911.
After having owned the 914-6 for about 7 months, I can confidently say I prefer the 914-6. While not as fast as the 911, the "fun" or pure joy of driving the car and pushing is even greater. It feels more raw than the 911.
As far as soliciting responses or attention from passers by........the 914-6 get much, much more attention. My
911 Carerra was the first 911 that I had owned. I had always lusted after the classic 911's and thought this pristine original car would draw attention and comments. Rather it hardly turned any heads. But, the 914-6 gets comments when ever I drive it. Having said the above, I don't buy cars to draw attention. Could care less what people think of my cars. But the reactions I get from the two cars is exactly opposite of what I expected.
I doubt that I would ever sell the 914-6.Attachment 203581Attachment 203582Attachment 203583Attachment 203584
That's a beauty!
I love that color on them. That's the color mine was at new.
