I believe that was bought from Camp914 a few years ago , originally from Humphrey's in Everett WA, i have the dealer frame from it , If it is the car I think it is.

Anyone recognize the car or know any history?...Orig Northern Ca car.

Started out life 1970 914-6 #131 Canary yellow, changed to red during racing life with factory M471 steel fenders added, now GP white back to street trim.

Very true words. Thanks to LongRanger for his Rennsport Saturday Photos post where I spied the contact info for this car, another one has moved to a new care-taker. A well-loved example that has always lived in Washington State. Purchased new at Humphrey's, in Everett. Original color. Needs some minor freshening and resto work to bring back up to "very nice" standards. First on the list are some Fuchs and yes, I know the front bumper panel is not correct for the model year. This will be a bit of a work-in-progress. :)

Thank you for the kind words. Yes, I have been looking for the last couple of years. I like tangerine too, but it's not a color I was particularly seeking, since my 911E is also tangerine. I chose this one because it was carefully maintained, relatively unmolested cosmetically, and the previous owner lives pretty close (30 miles). Therefore, I had the opportunity to both get to know him and do a fair bit of local research about the car's history over the couple of months before committing to purchase. I was also able to talk to the owner immediately previous to this one. Someone who coincidentally lives very close to me and whom I've bought 911 parts from. His words sounded somewhat regretful when he said "I wouldn't mind owning that car again." Although a little "scruffy", the car has been lovingly cared for and comes with a very thick folder of receipts and other documentation that I've only begun to look through.

re: the engine: the original 2.0 was replaced with what was advertised as a 2.7 "RS" spec engine (with Webers). Per the other thread, the PPI dyno report showed adequate power, but lower on the RPM scale than one would expect from an "S"-cammed engine. The mechanic who checked the car out for me thought either the carb venturis were undersized, or the cams were something other than "S" cams. He thought perhaps Solex cams, but he emphasized he was only guessing. I'll have him go through the engine in detail when the rainy season lets up around here, and hopefully we'll get our answer then. It pulls like a freight train, so I'm not sure what I'll do if the cams are indeed the explanation. It's a very drivable "street" car, as is.
