Ultimate ST thread

I notice in the table on P29 that it says the 2.8 engine was fitted to TRD91M when it was purchased by Sean Campbell. During the mid seventies I was co-driver to many of the Irish Porsche drivers (Curley, McCartney brothers, Joe Pat O'Kane, Freddy Patterson) in most of the 2.7RS and knew David Agnew well. I drove this car on many occasions while he owned it including delivering it to and from Autofarm. I am fairly certain that it had a twin plug 2.8 fitted on all the events David drove it on and that the same engine was in it when owned by Sean.

Here are some more pics of this famous factory prototype as it undergoes development from the rudimentary rear spoiler to the 'Mary Stuart' version.
Those 'funky' rear flares with a mud flap are the most enduring features as it evolved from ST to RSR prototype.

This 1970 E being dubbed...an 'ST' is in fact a 'built from a kit ' ST, which confirms our discussions that many of the 911s competing in the early 70s were not factory built STs, but privateer modified cars. These cars still have the log books, records, and in many cases historic significance as serious competition 911s of the early 70s. There is little factory documentation for these cars, and their value in the collector car market place often depends on previous owners (in the day) and 3rd party shop records about modifications done over their competition life. Photos from the day are also very significant in identifying a history of competition. For me, they are still STs that deserve recognition and significant valuation.
