Does anybody have first hand experience seeing this car either from prior owner in VA or close look at recent auction ? If so any comments on the condition /quality of this car would be appreciated. Thanks much

'. . . Whilst most Carrera RSes were painted white with contrasting trim, there were some made in other standard Porsche colours: Black, Red, Green, and Blue, for example. A few were delivered in paint-to-order colours. Chassis number 9113600171, a first-series example that was delivered on 20 December 1972, was amongst those unique orders. Most interestingly, it rolled out of the paint booth wearing eye-catching Fraise (Strawberry) paint, code LO2491. It was equipped with only a few additional options, such as Recaro Sports seats in black leatherette with Perlon cloth inserts (M409), which were fitted with matching headrests (M258). The factory made provisions for an entertainment system (M490 Hi-Fi Sound) to later be installed. A pair of M058 chrome and rubber rear bumper guards was also included . . .

This stunning Carrera RS 2.7 was first delivered to Raffei in Hamburg, Germany (possibly Raffay, a Hamburg Volkswagen dealer), and then passed through the hands of a Mr Noll in Rastede, which was a small city west of Hamburg. Its next owner, Ellen Binz of Rösrath, a suburb of Köln, acquired the car in May 1986. Less than a year later, ownership passed to Udo Kruse at Autohaus Kruse in Winterberg-Silbach, where the car was registered in February 1987. Mr Kruse obtained an ONS Wagenpass (number 20023/967) on 30 July 1997, which certifies its registration history. Its current owner has held the car for the last decade and is the fifth documented enthusiast to enjoy this striking Porsche. Included with the car is its original title (although not valid), as well as the German Fahrzeugbrief, and it is currently TÜV certified until 2016 . . .
. . . At some point, the original engine (number 6630189) was replaced with another of the same specification from a 1975 Carrera. The engine was overhauled in 1997, with the odometer showing 120,000 kilometres, and when the current owner purchased the car from Kruse, the odometer read 6,412 kilometres. The car received a thorough cosmetic restoration that was completed in 2007. As offered here, this 1973 Carrera RS 2.7 Touring remains one of the most eye-catching examples, as it is resplendent in its Strawberry paint with contrasting black negative side trim and factory badging. It wears stainless steel rocker decos and rear wheel bumper-edge trim and black-cantered Fuchs alloy wheels with secure centre caps. This car has been fitted with both left- and right-hand Durant-style exterior mirrors. Inside, the Recaro Sport seats, black Perlon carpeting, standard 911 S door panels, and instrument panel appear very fresh, and the engine compartment is highlighted by the yellow-painted, 11-bladed cooling fan . . .'

'. . . Chassis 9113601108 was built to Touring specifications and delivered new to its native Germany. It is one of just thirty examples finished in special-order India Red paint, which is the same hue it wears today, and in addition to its special color, it was fitted with sport seats, retractable seats, through-the-grille fog lights, a limited slip differential, and a retractable antenna. The car continues to retain all these options today . . .
. . . Although the car's early history is unknown, it did spend some time in a Japanese museum after departing Germany, and it was repainted white with blue stripes. Afterwards, the car was shipped to the United States, where it was purchased by George Valerio. At that time, it was noted that the car was in excellent condition, as it still retained its matching-numbers engine, yet it wore an unoriginal color. The car later found its way to Phillip Coombs, of Santa Barbara, California, who decided to commission a rotisserie restoration for his newly acquired Carrera RS . . .
. . . The car was sent to Porsche specialists at Kundensport in Camarillo, who were charged with overseeing the project and doing the majority of the work. The car was taken down to bare metal and refinished in its correct shade of India Red. The drivetrain was rebuilt by the Aase Brothers in Anaheim, and the restoration of the car's interior and original sport seats was left to Tony Garcia, of Autobahn Interior in San Diego. During the restoration, it was noted that the car was still fitted with an incredible number of its original components, down to the correct fog lights and date-stamped seat belts. It was also noted that the car had never received any accident damage and all the original panels remained unblemished. Noted Porsche 911 RS specialist David Mohlman, who was previously involved in the sale of the car, similarly commented that this RS was an outstanding example, and he remembered it fondly . . .
. . . Upon completion of the restoration in 2012, the car was sold to noted enthusiast Don Davis, who fitted it with its present and iconic Carrera side-stripe decals. It was then subsequently purchased by a notable Colorado-based collector. In his possession, the car was further dialed-in for road use, and it is reported to run and drive beautifully, having covered just under 1,000 miles since the completion of its restoration. The car was shown at the 30th annual Concours d'Elegance of Colorado in 2013, and there, it took First Place in the early Porsche category and was judged by the PCA to 240.6 points out of 240, with the additional 0.6 points being awarded for the car's high level of original components and age, which further confirm its high degree of originality. A full tool kit and owner manual accompany the car, as well as its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, which confirms its original options and correct color of India Red . . .'
