Porsche 914/6 collectability

----the donor clip was apparently sunflower or summer yellow, as evidenced by the paint / body shutz by the tow hook on the underbody, and the welding doesn't look bad if you believe internet photos, but really, would YOU want it ?

It had to have had a clip going back pretty far into the front structure......panel gaps aren't great, and cleanliness by the sidewalls around the battery tray need some attention. Not a real nice job of welding at the rear trunk pivot....

I won't be arm wrestling anyone on it.

A few questions to gain some wisdom on fuel lines on a real original 914-6....
Has anyone replaced the through the body fuel lines on their original 914-6?
Is the plastic line still available?..
What would it do to the "value" to replace with stainless lines like from CFR aka Tangerine

Mine is replaced with Stainless steel. My 914-4 is also replaced with metal lines.

Even if plastic lines are available, why would you want them????

I used the CFR stainless line in my six and would never consider plastic. The CFR prouct is excellent

Funny you should bring this topic up. A leaking fuel line is what's currently holding up my 914-6 at the mechanic's. We thought it was a weeping carburetor, but he fixed that and the smell was still there. He asked if I wanted him to track down the original plastic, and I told him to go with the conventional wisdom balanced with a reasonable desire for originality. I assumed metal tubing would be a preferred. Now I know. Thanks.

Thanks guys for all the comments....I kind of thought most would say metal lines....if you have had any experience with 914s you have always wondered "what the hell were they thinking at the factory" when they put in the plastic lines....not sure what year but the later 914-4s had a metal stub on both plastic lines at the front fire wall....MR wonder if this is where yours is leaking....the early cars including the sixes had the plastic just coming thru the rubber "stopper" in the front fire wall...Tom did you do the install yourself on the CFR lines...I really like Chris's products....tried and true stuff

Good question, but the original plastic was replaced some time ago with aeroquip stainless braided. Which is now apparently leaking. I'll try to find out exactly where the leak was for documentation purposes.
