1973 Carrera RS Cars for Sale

Back in 2004 I had dinner with Tom Bobbitt who was president of the PCA at the time. He was attending our region's annual gala. I distinctly remember he was sitting to my left and I brought up my interest in RS cars. He told me that if I got serious to let him know because there were a lot of cars that weren't real. 11 years later it cannot have gotten better since 2004 is the last year that they were "stable" before going on the "ride to the moon" and of course drawing out the worst in people anxious to make a quick dollar.

Couldn't agree with you more. I just don't understand why in the world Bonhams would sell such at car at a major auction. It's not like these are so rare that you couldn't find a real car to sell instead of this fake. Crazy, shouldn't be any more than what a decent replica would sell for.

The body VIN is clearly wrong, so who would buy this and dump a bunch of $$$ into it? Wonder what the production # on this is.

If a protest "take down" was allowed (like racing engines in certain venues) I guess we could see.;)

This is as much an RS as many of them are [and much more than a lot of them!]. The only difference is that in this case the auction house presents certain vital information. I suspect this incredible rising RS market means that the present owner of "1059" is OK financially presenting it honestly and selling it with no concerns about future liability. Whether this is an ethics or liability decision I haven't a clue, but it is good to see it honestly presented.

What this sale will do is establish what an "RS" with a swapped chassis and new engine case is worth in today's market.

If it weren't so expensive it might make a fantastic driving enthusiast's RS. Any experts care to guess what it will go for? [I know the cars well enough but haven't kept up on the market.]

[If anyone read this before I edited my post... cough cough.. I used to own 1029! My fingers got the better of me the first time when I meant to type 1059. :o]

Has anyone already seen the car VIN 911 360 1193 at Goodings?
To me the mirrors are a bit strange?
Any comments to the car?

Lots of incorrect stuff on that car, embarrassing after going through this restorer and that restorer . . .
